This problem is called the white screen of death. To solve this, you should press the Home button and the Power button together for about 30 - 40 seconds. This process is called hard reboot. You can also try to restore the factory settings by plugging the device to you computer and restore it using itunes.

I keep getting error message:
Windows cannot acess the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
I have tried to turn it on, no screen. I do however, have a file on the hard drive which allows me to see what is on the device. Can't access device screen or contents. ???
