I bought a new microphone, it was detected by the system but it doesnt work anyway. there was of course a pop-up screen and ask me what did i plug into the red jeck, and i choose the microphone. everything seems ok... but.. nothing. do i need to download any driver or something? can anybody help me on this. thank you.
I got my problem done couple months ago. the problem is that my audio was not updated with the lastest driver. after you get the latest driver, install it. then it works ok.
My microphone stopped working, so i got a new headset. I thought maybe that was the problem. Anyway, the new headset i got was a gigatech GT-204VH vibration one. I plugged this in, in hopes it'll work. it didnt. so anyway, i tried a friends headset and it worked just fine, its a gigatech also but different model. a firewall block/unblock screen came up with my friends and i clicked unblocked. they worked fine. So i swapped back to my headset and microphone and it doesnt work at all. i'm not sure exactly whats going on.
Go to start then control pannel then sounds and audio devices. Then in in the volume tab select advanced in the device volume section. When the mixer comes up go to options then properties select the recording option a recording mixer will come up make sure to check the microphone box. Raise the level in the ixer and you should be golden. If you want to hear the mic select playback mixer and raise the mic level. Hope this helps. : ]
Here is a link to your motherboard audio drivers.

Also make sure your microphone does not have a mute switch that is muted. Hope this does it. :]
