My drive is not reading dvd's although it reads cd's and can burn both cd's & dvd's

SOURCE: DVD/CD combo drive will read but bot write

Your combo drive has gone bad, get it repaired

SOURCE: I CANNOT GET MY CD TO READ AND BURN A CD.....DVD

Try using a good quality dvd cleaner. The cd lens could be dirty causing cd funstions not to work. There is a different lens for the dvd so it's highly possible that one function will work but not the other if dirty. If this does not work you may have a lens that has become disoriented. If this is the case then with todays priced, decent dvd/cd burner for under $40 it would be cheaper to replace the drive than attempt to repair. Good luck & I hope this helps.
