Subwoofer isn't working

When the subwoofer has been powered on for a few minutes it makes a very loud popping noise every few seconds. Suspecting damage to the wire, I switched it out for a different one and have the same results. Prior to this happening, it made a very deep, low hum if it was left powered on and the receiver wasn't. Perhaps that was normal.

Thank you, cluepatel. I located JBL authorized service centers in my area and will contact someone this week. Any thoughts on repair costs? Hopefully this isn't designed to be a "disposable" piece of equipment as is far too common today.

Same popping every few seconds... unhooked the speaker, powered up, light turns green unlike previous. Hooked up the speaker while the power is on (green), stays green and makes no pops but still doesn't work... power down, power up and back to popping... was fine when last put away before move... not pleased...

If your wire connections are normal then the problem is due your woofer speaker. Its your subwoofer circuit error and must be repair thru replacing the damaged Component in the circuit

I cant say about that now. Becoz it depends upon which part is to be replaced.

Klh powered subwoofer model ASW10-120B... when you plug in to power... it makes a loud buzzing/humming noise

I would check the caps on the power supply. They are rather large electrolytic capacitors that will look like they burst and/or leaking. When these die, the caps ground and the sub will make a loud buzzing sound. If you are handy with a soldering iron you can replace them yourself. Replace them with the same voltage or a little bigger and same with the size.

If the cap. says 16v 4700pF on it, for example, a 20v 5300pF or a 16v 6200mF cap. will work for this application.

The subwoofer starts to make a loud thumping sound

Remove the signal source and power it on to see if the problem occurs without any input signal. The problem could be in the receiver and not the sub

Samsung HLS5086WX/XAA made popping noise and shut off, then made whirring noise.

When my TV did this in the past it ended up being the color wheel. I had someone replace it and it worked fine. I asked it if had to be calibrated after it is installed and he said no. Also make sure the door switch is pushed down when you install the back bulb door. Sometimes this switch can go bad as well.

JBL PB12 will have loud thump or pop!

First try to find the source of your problem. The easiest way would be to try your sub with a different audio source to see if the problem still occurs but is sounds more like there's a problem with the receiver.

S8 makes a very loud vibrating buzzing noise with only the power lead plugged in

Check for ground loops. Also shut off any CFL or LED lamps inthe vicinity.

You may also have an intermittent connection on the input.

There is a lesser chance that there is an internal failure of a capacitor on the amp power supply, but it is a possibility to look at if all the wiring is in place and soundly connected. The S8 has a high gain amp. It will pick up interference from CCFL or LED ballasting supplies it will also be able to pick up other switch mode power supplies. in vicinity of the input cable.

I get a loud static noise, when I first turn on the yamaha ysp-1. Lasts a few seconds. Have unplugged all inputs. Problem persists.

u have a cool sound projector but u have a baaaad power supply system. bad power supply design - u will get all sorts of noise when u power it up. i have a sub woofer with the same problem(which in my case is the way it is designed). i used a delay circuit. but in ur case i know YSP-1 has a clean start up. so, if the warranty still covers it get it replaced. static noises, pop noises are often caused by bad capacitors.

Samsung DLP 72inch, recurring loud pop then fuzz for 3 seconds

I pulled out the Lamp, cleared the dust inside with one of those air blowers and returned the Lamp. That seems to have fixed the picture problems I was having.

If you remove the volume knob, and tighten the nut below, it should take care of the popping noise, as well as any input noise issues. Based on my experiences with my MKII
