The BIOS doesn't care nor detect the installed OS and should only be upgraded if you are having BIOS issues.

The old adage "If it works don't try to fix it" certainly applies here.

    A bit more info

BIOS stands for Basic Input Output System. The BIOS holds the most
basic computer instructions required to boot a computer into an
operating system such as DOS or Windows. You can think of the BIOS as a
    mini pre-operating system.

You can download the device drivers from the Sony WEB site.

I just got a sony vaio vgn-bz560 with windows exp,,but it says it has vista..How do I find it?

chances are the previous owner install xp in place of vista and unless it has vista saved in a partition on the hard drive then you can't get it back if it is in the partition then you just need to select it from there and reinstall it

VAIO VGN-AR630E Drivers for Vista Ultimate

Vista Home premium drivers will work perfectly with Windows Vista Ultimate. When installing Vaio event service and Vaio Control center make sure that you run setup file as administrator. Right-click the setup file and select option "run as administrator". By reinstalling utilities this way they will work perfectly well

Sony vaio motion eye

Windows Vista is not the greatest at working on proprietary machines with drivers intended for XP. Can you get a driver from SONY for the motion eye that supports VISTA? I had Vista on my new machine (Dell) for all of 3 minutes before I uninstalled it and put a brand new copy of XP on. It's stable -- and works. Vista is squirrelly.
