The TV tries to come on for about 5 seconds, then turns off. Won't turn back on unless I unplug it, then the same thing happens.

Try unplugging from outlet for fifteen seconds. Press the power button for a few seconds "before" plugging back in. Now plug back into the wall outlet and try turning it on to see if this reset the TV's settings.

TV won't turn on

It sounds that, the memory IC to your TV has damaged. This IC can be located very near to main system control IC. A very small one, with 8 solder terminals. Even though it is very small, function of it while the TV works is great. The work is a semi-skilled one, and you must have some knowledge in electronics to proceed.

Heard a pop , bulb blew out , replaced bulb , it worked for two days , now red light blinks three times pauses then three times and so on , tv won't turn off light won't turn off unless I unplug...

3 blinks indicates lamp door is not on or has not been reinstalled properly. This also could mean the lamp door switch has failed itself. Try removing the lamp door and putting back on, if that doesnt correct the problem then I recommend having the switch replaced.

Hi mojogill,

It sounds like the receiver may be locked up. If the buttons on the front do not work, then try unplugging the receiver for 5 seconds and plug back in then check to see if everything is working fine.

If you need any further assistance with this, feel free to contact me at [email protected]. Thanks!

Had electrical storm last night. Tv shows the Westinghouse symbol, nothing else. This is when it is turned off. When you turn it on (from the tv, remote won't work at all), symbol disappears for 30...

If your TV has a reset switch on the back, use it. If not, Unplug the TV, hold the power button down for 30 seconds, let it go and remain unplugged for another 5 minutes or so.
Plug it back in, and see what happens. Try changing the inputs/channels/etc to see what happens. If you're still having this issue, Take your TV in for repair.

- Sidenote, a $25 power bar with built in protection curcuits are the easiest way to protect your equipment from this kind of thing, and quite a bit cheaper than forking over $300 for a new TV everytime there's thinder and lighting.
