Burned dvd doesn't work in other dvd players

I burned a dvd of one of my vhs tapes, and it works in the dvd player that I made it in, but it doesn't work in any other dvd players. Why isn't it working and/or what do I need to do so that it will work?

You have to make sure the disc was finalized to get the discs to play on other units. Make sure the other unit is capable of playing recorded discs, some wont play R-, R+, R/W etc. Have seen units that would only play R- discs and no other type of recordable discs.

Make sure that you finalize the disc when recording is finished, also some DVD players prefer DVD +R

Can I transfer video tapes onto CD's

A lot depends on what type of video tape you use and where do you want to play the DVDs (CDs are for audio recording only). If tape is compact VHS then you can buy a simple DVD Recorder VHS VCR combo player and transfer across easily provided you have the compact VHS cassette module.

For other type of video camera tapes you will have to try other methods like connect camera with tape to a DVD recorder and directly burn the DVDs. You can buy attachments and software for PC but I have found these very cumbersome to work with.

My VHS-to-DVD Burned Disc used to work and now it doesn't

Richard,

It could be your disc is scratched or DVD+R can't be read in the DVD player. Check for any scratches. Then pop in the disc in to your PC DVD, to see if it's readable.

Is it possible to copy video from a vhs to a dvd?

If the DVD drive is a recorder, yes. If it is a player only, no. If the tape is copy-protected, recording to a DVD recorder is not possible. Assuming the tapes are not copy-protected, and you are using a DVD recorder with the correct format DVDs (DVD-R for example), you shouldn't have any problems transferring old VHS tapes to DVD.

Sounds like you see head switching from the tape. Most TV are over scanned enough to hide it.

How to transfer movies from VHS tape to DVD.

i hate being the bearer of bad news, but your unit is a dvd player only, not a dvd recorder. it cannot burn dvds, and so you cannot use it alone to transfer your home movies to dvd.

Vhs tapes recorded to DVD+R's

try forwarding the tape to the end and then rewind to the start again, this can help to seat the tape correctly on the spindle . the audio track part of the tape is in a specific region on the tape so misalignment may be the issue with those cassettes.

also try to press the tracking up and down when playing the video

Help w/ panasonic burner

I own one and it is a pain to work. Put in the disc and vhs tape and hit the bottom right button, I believe it says DVD and above it says dubbing. Hold it for a few seconds and the screen will come up and the system will do the rest recording from your VHS tape to the disc. You MUST finalize the disc after you are finished if you want to watch it in another DVD players if not it will only work on the Panasonic. Hope this helps. If not here is the site for the owners matual http://www.panasonic.com.au/support/downloads/file_type_results.cfm?fileTypeID=2&productCategoryID=54

Vhs to dvd burning

You cannot burn a DVD on the XBV243. It is NOT a DVD recorder. You CAN record onto a VHS tape from a DVD (copy-protected commercial DVDs cannot be recorded)
