Memory Card Locked

Hello,

With my old memory card, when I tried to take any pictures it would say that the memory card is locked. I tried to slide the switch on the memory card and it wouldn't help, so I bought a new memory card. When I went to format it, it says the same thing. Also with taking new pictures....any ideas?

There is an option to lock the memory card, so here's what you do. Open battery slot<remove card<there is a lock tab just switch it to unlock. tab is on side of card on SD card

Memory card is locked and cannot delete pictures

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

MEMORY CARD LOCKED

All SD cards I have ever seen can be locked with a little slide on the left side as you face the label. if the slide is up, the card is unlocked and can be used for taking pictures. If the slide is down, it is in the locked position, which prevents it from overwriting anything that is currently on the card. Before you unlock it you may want to verify that all pictures on the card (if any) have been saved because once you start using the card and overwriting its contents, the pictures are gone forever. If the card is empty, just unlock it, format it and start taking pictures.

Camera is saying "Memory card is locked. Slide lock to "write" position."

If you remove the card from the camera, there is a little switch on the SD Card. There is typically a label that shows which direction is locked. If not, switch it to the opposite side. This should solve the problem. Otherwise, there could be a problem with your card. I hope this solves the problem.

Problem with memory card

Make sure your camera is off.....Open flap to memory card.....On the side of your card you will see a little TAB that you can slide up and down....Your card is in the LOCKED POSITION which means you can't accidentally erase pictures stored on the card.....Simply slde the tab to the opposite position where it is now and you will have an unlocked card.....

Little sliding switch on the side of the SD memory card. Remove from camera, slide switch away from lock position, re-install and you should be good to go.
