It could be a firmware problem, you can update your firmware but be sure to update to the latest official, stable version. If you have problems only with this type of media and all others are OK, I would recommend you to use different media.

If not ( Cant read CD or DVD ) then most likely the lens on the ODD is already busted. or ODD cant be detected then just go to the Website support.toshiba.com and download the latest update for the ODD. And install the driver on your NB and restart the NB. If still the same then the ODD you have is already busted what you need to do is to buy a new ODD.

Have you contacted the manufacturers site and a)checked out their FAQ's and in the last resort Contacted their Support for help?

check your disc speeds it won't accept anything over 8X, you can rectify go to cd freaks liggy and flash the firmware to 2.19 it worked for me

Hi, I think that it's a firmware issue. If the unit is till covered by warranty, you may have to bring it back for replacement. When doing so, it may be to your advantage to bring the PC while it is still attached and blank CDs and DVDs just to demonstrate the particular failure and likewise to be able to test if and when it would be replaced.
