Car seats of various types have an "expiry date", however, let's find out more about the purpose of a booster seat...
[Children] should use a belt-positioning booster seat until the vehicle seat belt fits properly, typically when they have reached 4 feet 9 inches in height and are 8 through 12 years of age." From www.healthychildren.org

A booster seat, quite simply, is a device used to raise the child up so the seat belt passes across their chest in the correct position and does not cut into their neck and so they don't slide under it.
There are laws dictating age, height and weight and expiry of a booster seat. However, in my opinion, deciding what your child needs has a lot more to do with the size of your child, their developmental stage, and the design of the car. Apparently a booster seat can expire, however, I don't understand how, when it's just a plastic seat. The restraint is not part of the seat itself, it uses only the car's regulation seat belt.

When does my car seat expire

Most seats expire six years from date of manufacturer, some longer.

Contact the manufacturer to be sure. NEVER use an expired seat.

Expiration date

Most car seats have a six year expiration from the date of manufacture (not first use). Some seats may have an expiration date on a label, or may have an expiration date embossed into the plastic. To be certain, call the manufacturer. In the USA, call 800-544-1108 (Dorel Juvenile Group).
There are several recalls on the 22-150 model. See www.carseat.org and click on "recalls."

The PortAbout 5 was last manufactured in 2005, making it very likely the seat has expired. Contact Evenflo (800-233-5921, www.evenflo.com) about the expiration date and reattaching the visor (if the seat has not expired). Please DO NOT use an expired seat!
Manufacturer states that, when installing this rear facing only restraint in an outboard seating position, there should be at least 1.5" of space between the restraint, including the handle, and the
back of the front seat.
Do not remove the harness strap from the adjuster. If the harness is ever mistakenly removed, Evenflo will send a new harness with adjuster.

Lost instruction guide to costco pronto carseat.

Here is the cosco website online instruction manuals. You will need your product number and the date of manufacture. Just enter them into the spaces provided and they will provide you with the instruction manual for the car seat. The product number in there now is for a Cosco pronto car seat, I would confirm it is the same as the one you have.

Hope this helps.

Looking for instructions for assembling a costco car seats straps

Go to this website and type in your car seat info. If they do not have the manual, I would call the manufaturer's number located on your car seat.

GOOD LUCK!

PS I just took my car seat apart to wash the cloth material and found the easiest way to reassemble it was to remove the base during install of the straps and then replace the base.

I have the Alpha Omega convertable car seat that was manufactured in 1999. I have misplaced the user instruction booklet and do not know how to convert it to a booster seat. Can I download these...

I'm sorry, I don't know if or where you can get the instructions. The vast majority of carseats expire after 6 years, though. I think 10 years is the max. and there are few of those on the market. If at all possible, I would recycle the seat you have and pick up a new booster seat.

Britax booster seat

You can call Britax customer service and they may send one out to you. Since the car seat is expired though, they may give you some hassle.
