I have a Janome 1600P QC drags on a Little Gracie 2 frame

I have a Janome 1600P QC and use it on a Little Gracie 2, with the Sure Stitch Regulator.
The machine I was using before on the frame was a Janome 6600 with the Sure Stitch.

On both machines I've been using Valdani 50wt. thread in the top and bottom.

My problem. the machine will be stitching with no problems then all the sudden the machine will just slow down to a crawl for about 4 stitches then speed up all the sudden - be ok, then slow down again. I called Grace about it and they said it was the 6600 wasn't fast enough for the quilting, so I went out and purchased a faster machine that is giving me the same problems.

However, I did noticed that after cleaning the grooves in the carriage wheels it worked perfect for that row then the next row I did it started to drag again. I also noticed that the track on the right side of the frame was cracked - I couldn't figure out what was making a cracking noise then I discovered it when I ran a cloth across the track.

So I'm not sure if this is a machine problem, frame problem, or Sure Stitch problem?

Thanks,

Sorry for your headache. It is the frame. If it is not level, balanced, you have hell to pay. Also it there is a nick in the grooves of the carriage tracks this will cause a machine problem. You may be able to repair the frame, or level it about the old level the table trick, put something under that part.

Good luck

Can feed dogs on janome 1600 series be dropped

No the feed dogs aren't dropped on the Janome 1600 series sewing machines. Instead, you cover them with the darning plate. I haven't found the darning plate sold separately. https://www.sewingmachinesplus.com/jan-767-827-009.php is a source for the darning foot and darning plate. As far as I can tell, the darning plate is not among the original accessories for any of the Janome 1600 models. The manuals for two of the Janome 1600 models are on the retired machine page: https://www.janome.com/support/retired-machine-manuals/ . The manual for the Janome 1600P-QC is on that machine page: https://www.janome.com/machines/sewing/1600p-qc/ . The direct link to this manual is https://www.janome.com/siteassets/support/manuals/professional-series/inst-book-1600pqc.pdf .

I hope this helps.

I was using my Janome 1600p with the surestitch regulatr .I was practicing since it is new, with no problems.Shut the machine and regulator off for approx. 1 hr,and it would not work at all.

You tried disconnecting the stitch regulator?

No, try machine without regulator.

Yes, make sure you have power at the wall socket. Unplug sewing machine and plug in a lamp, radio, or vacuum to test for power. If power at wall socket, then plug sewing machine back in to wall socket. If still no power, disconnect and reconnect power cord at machine end. If still no power, try cycling the sewing machine ON/OFF switch a few times.

If still no power then likely the internal fuse or other.

Janome Memory Craft 8200QC Horizon. Can you get a stitch regulator? How does it work? Does it help to free motion stitch ?

You should check with a Janome dealer if your machine can use a stitch regulator. Machines that take a stitch regulator need the ability to plug into the machine, which is not available on a lot of machines unless they have the stitch regulator function. A stitch regulator helps some people. It still takes a lot of practice moving the fabric smoothly.

On my BSR, it has an "eye" that measures the distance the fabric moves under the presser foot so it can stitch at the specified distance. The faster the fabric moves, the faster it stitches, but the stitches tend to more uniform in length.

FWIW, I read a summary of the Janome 8200 QC Horizon and there was no mention of a stitch regulator.

Machine sews fine when it is set up on a table, but when it is on the Gracie II quilting frame and operated by their stitch regulator, the stitch quality is very bad. It varies from fair to very bad - I...

Use a carpenter's level to level up your frame, and be sure to keep the quilt leveled up to barely above the throat plate on the machine, and level front to back. Check the connections on the regulator sensors. If even one is not making good connection, you'll have skipped or broken stitches.

I recently acquired a Janome 1600 with the Gracie II Frame. I am having trouble with the bobbin thread being too loose. How do I fix this.

Is the problem with the thread being wound too loose on the bobbin or is the bobbin thread too loose on your sewing? If it is the later, refer to your book on tightening the thread by turning the screw [very little at a time] on your bobbin case.

Feed Dogs on Janome 1600P

I recently purchased a Janome 1600P-DB and in order to do free motion quilting I had to cover the feed dogs with an index card. I also cut a small section out of the card to allow for the thread and needle to move freely. Standard tape was used.
