To use PC Restore:

1. Turn on the Computer. During the boot process, a blue bar with www.dell.com appears at the top of the screen.

2. Immediately upon seeing the blue bar, press <Ctrl><F11>. If you do not press <Ctrl><F11> in time, let the Computer finish restarting, and then restart the Computer again.

NOTICE: If you do not want to proceed with PC Restore, click Reboot in the following step.

3. On the next screen that appears, click Restore.

4. On the next screen, click Confirm. The restore process takes approximately 6–10 minutes to complete.

5. When prompted, click Finish to reboot the Computer.

NOTE: Do not manually shut down the Computer. Click Finish and let the Computer completely reboot.

6. When prompted, click Yes.

The Computer restarts. Because the Computer is restored to its original operating state, the screens that appear, such as the End User License Agreement, are the same ones that appeared the first time the Computer was turned on.

7. Click Next. The System Restore screen appears and the Computer restarts.

8. After the Computer restarts, click OK.

The dv5 1250 us laptop I got not quite 2 years ago is not booting up. The first light goes on but the hard drive light does not. The happens the odd time and I just take out the battery, put it back in...

gee why not leave the bad battery out, and run on AC power
now. batteries short, leave it out. until PC runs again.
does it work now? on AC line power. ONLY ?
the laptop will run just like desktop now, endlessly (AC power ok)
next is the fan running, battery out? yes/no.
if yes, it has power maybe... some.
does the screen ever show text,? or HP logo.. small logo.
if yes that means you do have power, and the screen works
and the BIOS hot keys work : do they?
the hot keys are, F2 F10 , Esc, F8 or f11.
for 2 years prompted with that text.. its in the service manual
the hot keys.
i read you manual in 1 minute flat.
F11 is the recover hot key, does that work
does it show ANYTHING at all ?
(text or errors, )
power on an quickly hammer F11 f11 f11, over and over and bam recovery mode happens

this PC has CCFL lamps that go bad. LCD back lamps all die this old. or turn yellow.
if the screen black all the time out comes the flashligtht
see data now? F2, ESC, F11 key pressed power on.
page 112 in your free service manual
says push ESC to get BIOS,
then F10
F11 is recover your OS.

We have anew acer p.c, and cannot access the internet. it accepts the wep key. help. wireless linskey, 3 other p.c.s no problem.

Hi,

What is the operating system of your laptop? Is it running Windows Vista or XP? Can you check if you're getting an IP address wirelessly?

Go to start>run>type cmd and then hit enter.

On the black screen type, ipconfig/all and see if you're getting an IP address similar to the IP address of the other working computers. If not, then that is the problem, that means that the wireless security that was entered on your new laptop is incorrect. To make sure that you entering the correct key, save your security key on a notepad and then copy and paste it on your wireless adapter settings.

IP address Problem with Dell Studio 1525

Most probably its the problem with the autonet ip address where the computer picks a bad ip address. If your internet service provider has DHCP enabled you cannot put the manual IP address. If its a new problem try system restore, uninstalling and reinstalling networkdrivers. resetting winsock.(search google)

Ip address wont work

i has to work, make sure that he security key its right. because one of the major problems of not been able to obtain IP address is because the WEP/WPA key or what ever type of security key you use is type incorrect. try re-typing your security key again and that should solve the problem.
