It needs to be re-gassed.
Sorry mate, there is a rule out there if something is not in use at least once every three months, it brakes. This goes for cars, printers, TV's, lawn mowers, ect. and fridges new and old.

8 year old side by side, refrigerator and freezer not cold, compressor running, condenser fan running, discarge line not hot suction line not cold

discharge line not hot suction line not cold. This indicates the compressor is not working properly. It could be out of freon or just not pumping.

How long after a maytag side by side sat for a year should it take to get cold

with the compressor running 24 hours. Just like when you buy one from the store it takes 24 hours for it to stabalize with the settings set in mid range.

My freezer is not working properly with clicking sound.

The clicking sound is probably the compressor relay trying to start the compressor. When the lights dim, the compressor is trying to start and hence, pulling power from the rest of the unit. If the compressor has a start capacitor, that could possibly be the problem. If not, the compressor itself should be replaced.

I have an admiral refigerator (top freezer) less than 3 years old. The unit sat in a vacant house unplugged for about a year and now will not cool. Any suggestions

Good day,
Check in the freezer compartment to see if you can hear the fan motor running. They will freeze up if left off for extended periods of time.
Another fan motor on the bottom back near the compressor can suffer the same fate.
If both check O.K. Then since it's under 5 years you could have a refrigerant leak or a compressor problem that is under factory warranty.
Call your selling dealer for service.

Refriderator wont get cold or make iceor dispense water, the reezer is not freezing eithe

* Can you hear your compressor cycle on ? working ?

* Are the fans running but no cool air coming and compressor not on ?

Sounds like a control board problem - these are the things I would check first along with whether your compressor comes on or not.

Frigidaire gallery frigde is not cooling

If you never hear fan running in freezer, this could be the case. How old is this unit? Newer ones have a electronic defrost board. Older ones have a mechanical defrost timer.
If the fan in the freezer is on, and not getting cold...could be a compressor, or the relay/overload on the compressor. You'll need to check for voltage at the 2 wires at compressor. Should have about 110 volts when the freezer fan is on. If you have 110, Unplug unit and remove relay/ overload from compressor and shake it. If it rattles, you probably need the relay/overload. If this unit is only a few years old, it may be a compressor. We see these fail on these. Does it make a load hum for less than a minute followed by a click. And then after a bit, does it again. This is usually a bad compressor.

Fan runs but no cool air on both freezer side and cold side

If you hear the compressor try to start then click off, you probably have a bad compressor or a bad relay. If it is less than 5 yrs old the compressor is still covered by warranty and will be replaced free of charge. The relay is only covered for a year. With it being a Maytag, I bet it is compressor. There have been a few models with control board problems that have caused this symptom, but that's not likely to be your problem.

Window AC Unit

Hi, Sitting for a year or more don't hurt them but bugs dirt and water could. Depending a lot on the size and quality of the unit, there are usually no charge ports on a window unit and the parts and tools to charge it would probably be about the price of a new unit. If the fan motor is running and the compressor is running and it wont cool, I would call around and see what someone would charge to repair the leak and recharge it. The price would be better if you delivered it to their shop for repair. If the fan runs with no compressor, probably needs a thermostat or switch. No fan, Needs a fan motor or has something blocking the fan motor from turning, stick, dirt daubers nest, whatever. In most cases though, if its not a simple fix, A new unit would probably be your best bet. Hope this helps. kstfas
