1. Try cleaning the paper feed rollers

Instructions how to clean the paper feed rollers.
If the paper feed rollers become dirty, they may not be able to properly feed paper due to the feed roller's slippage.
If paper does not feed correctly, perform the following to clean the paper feed rollers:

  1. Open the Printers folder.

    - For Windows XP Home Edition : Click/Select 'Start,' 'Control Panel,' 'Printers and Other Hardware,' and 'Printers and Faxes.

    - For Windows XP Professional Edition : Click 'Start' and 'Printers and Faxes.'

    - For Windows Vista : Click 'Start,' 'Control Panel,' 'Hardware and Sound,' and 'Printers.'

    - For Windows 2000 : Click/Select 'Start,' and 'Settings,' then 'Printers.'
  2. Right-click the icon of the printer for paper feed roller cleaning, and select 'Properties' from the displayed list.
  3. Click the 'Maintenance' tab and click 'Roller Cleaning'.

Remove all sheets of paper from the rear tray, then click 'OK'.
  4. Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.
Note: Clicking 'OK' will activate the paper feed rollers 30 times. This activation will take about 90 seconds. Do not perform other operations until this operation has finished.
  5. Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.

After the continuous paper feeding operations in step 5 have finished, load three sheets of plain paper and click 'OK'.

  6. Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.

Note: “Feed roller cleaning is completed” message is displayed when the paper is fed and ejected.

    Click 'OK'.
Roller Cleaning is completed.

Try this, it worked for my ip pixma 1800: Open lid, brush a light coat of rubber cement onto the rollers. Close lid. Run roller cleaning to spread the rubber cement over all the rollers. Let dry overnight. Then run bottom plate clean and roller clean. Then print a test page. It should grab. Note: be sure the paper is aligned straight against the right guide of the paper tray. Mine's so old I have to use a clothes pin to stop it lopping off a little to the left side. Even that can cause a "paper jam". It works. Hope it does for you..

Paper is not being fed from paper holding drawer. sometimes makes clicking sound. Copier does work when single piece of paper is fed through right hand side of machine

It sounds like the feed tire is dirty, OR the feed clutch has sprung. Remove the paper tray On the right side of the copier where you feed the single sheet, you pull down the door. This exposes a fat gray or black feed roller. Take a clean dry towel and dampen it with wd 40. Gently wipe the roller with the cloth turning the roller toward the paper exit direction. Let the WD 40 soak in for ten minutes, replace the paper tray and try to make a copy. If it does, you need a feed roller which will rquire a service cal/take it in. If still no feed the 'clicking' may be a sprung clutch, service call required.

If this helps, please let me know with a vote, thanx

Document won't print, but it sounds like it is

Make sure the paper feed is full of fresh paper. Print something, and watch where the paper feeds into the machine. If the feed roller actuates and tries to pickup the paper but doesn't, you may need to clean the pickup roller with distilled water and a qtip. If it still doesn't pickup the paper, repair it under warranty with canon or replace it if not under warranty.

Hi, my canon i80 printer wont feed paper through

There is only one solution to the problem with the i80. Here it is: there is nothing jammed. This problem is the result of the top of the printer being pushed down, effectively crushing the paper feed path by a sixteenth of an inch, right at the center of the machine. Likely this is the result of being carried in a travel bag full of other stuff, like the power supply, or from things being placed to rest on top of the printer. The solution is to open the two top covers, to grasp the main steel bar that runs the entire width of the printer with a pair of long-nosed pliers and to simply apply upward pressure. This will, in turn, lift a black plastic paper guide that has been pushed down into the path of the paper by the slightly bent metal. The printer will happily feed paper after this relatively simple fix. Mark the problem up to bad industrial design (though the mechanisms of the printer are otherwise ingeniously well thought out).

Paper wont feed propaly

It sounds like the motor on the left side went out. If it's a brand new printer your best bet would probably be exchange it at the store or see if the manufaturer has a warrenty. If it's an older printer I probably wouldn't try to get it repaired, printers are getting cheaper these days and it probably wouldn't be much more to get a new one.

Paper doesn't feed

It could be a few things, but the times I've had similar problems it was either caused by the feed/gripper rollers in the paper trays being worn out, thus not feeding any paper or feeding half a sheet and then jamming.

Or, it could be that the elevator in your paper tray isn't lifting, but if it's taking paper it's probably the rollers.

Cassette error

On the control panel for the printer, there's a Feed Switch button that's easily touched by accident. Ensure the Feed Switch is set to the paper source you're using (e.g. either the back or front). The graphic of the printer next to the Feed Switch button will light up to indicate the paper tray it's attempting to use.

Canon ip 4300

Google "canon ip4300". The canon.com entry near the top has a support tab. and enter "paper skew", you'll get a roller cleaning procedure.
As a matter of fact, it didn't solve my problem. The alternative, of having the machine repaired, is, of course, silly vs. buying a new machine. But in the meantime, the lower paper feed still works, albeit slightly less convenient.
