Cat sat on laptop changed screen brightness. its to dark how do i brighten monitor

Have you tried the brightness buttons on the left hand side of the top keyboard row. If that does not change the brightness there is a malfunction of some sort.

Inorder to brighten up the screen ,try to find the key present on keyboard like "Fn" and also one more which resembles like sun.
This Sun like key will be present in the Function key(F1, F2 Etc)
Press both of the button at same time and adjust the brightness as per you requirement.

And also you can change the same in the power options in the properties where we can change the screensaver

Since this problem was posted generically.. Monitors, whether they are the old tank style CRTs, the newer flat panel LCDs or the newest LEDs, all have 'Brightness' controls. All are typically marked with what looks like a bright, or radiant light bulb, usually offset to one side, to show that "adjusting the ?? that way" will brighten the screen. Most LCDs are now Menu Driven, so looking for a button that says "Menu" is your starting point. You will need to find your adjusting control and the 'light bulb' to figure out which way to brighten or dim your screen. Once found, adjust to eye pleasing brightness. If your brightness is at 100%, you are on your way to needing a new or used monitor. Typically, there is no Brightness settings in the operating system. Your enhanced video card maybe doing it to you, They usually have their own control center and the types of abilities vary greatly. If you hav a friend that can loan you a monitor, borrow it to test at least the output your monitor is receiving. That will tell you whether you are having a problem with your video card or your monitor.

do u have a external monitor,connect it up and see whether,u r output is any better..

If you are unable to change the contrast with the 'fn' key and the brightness controls, usually represented in the top row of keys as a sun icons, one brightens, one dims. You may have a bad brightness/contrast inverter in your display. It's a small circuit board in the display that controls the brightness. They do fail. You can find them for most models but depending on your technical ability, they can be a little tricky to change.

Dim screen is usually caused by a bad inverter board especially if you get video to external monitor. Usually cost $100-$200 depending on laptop.

Make sure its not in hibernation,check brightness with darken and brighten buttons,does backlight work.Try hooking up external monitor and see if you get video.Other problems could be drivers.bad inverter card,LCD cable,LCD display,system board.

Push and hold the Fn button and for decrease of brightnes push F7 for increase push F6 . So Fn+F7 dark: Fn+F6 bright.

I too have the same problem with the same monitor.. tv looks great OSD looks great.. pc is dim.. This has nothing to do with the inverter board or the backlight.. I believe that there is an issue with the components that render the Computer video.
