My Dell610 laptop says that it can not recognize

A hard drive will work almost anywhere as long as you have the correct connection or adapter. You also need to make sure BIOS recognizes it if internal.

The Dell Latitude D800 series of Notebook PC's, uses an AC adapter that puts out 19.5 Volts DC. 90 Amps. (Amperes)

The AC adapter has a small wire in the center of the connector to the system. This sensing wire, if bent or broken will cause the error you mention.
If it's still under warranty contact Dell Support. If not, you'd better buy one replacement.

The computer doesn't need any drivers to recognize an AC Adapter. If you have purchased the correct AC Adapter for your laptop then it should just work when you plug it in. If it does not then my guess is either you have received a faulty AC Adapter or the DC Jack which you plug into in the back of the laptop is bad.
I am assuming your battery is dead and when you plug it in and turn it on nothing happens?
You can also try taking the battery out and try to power it on with the AC Adapter plugged in.

The Dell Latitude D610 takes a PA-10 or PA12 AC Adapter. It's 65W or 90W

For 90 watt Adapter the output voltage on your AC Adapter label should read 19.5V and 4.62A
At least that's what the Dell brand reads so it should be close to that.

if its not responding check power cables (ac adaptor/power cord) .if power cables are good board needs to be replaced. you must call dell to service the laptop.

If you are using an adaptor which is of high Watt and voltage that may fry up your motherbiard so be more careful while you are using adaptors with higher wattage and voltage

Did you check your battery LED light or Motherboard?
May be you need a dell latitude d610 battery?

What needs to be done is the jack that your adaptor plugs into has solder points underneath it. All the solder points need to be resoldered to make sure that there are no cracks in the solder that are preventing the jack from charging your battery.

After this is done if the laptop still isn't charging then if you know for sure your using the correct ac adaptor with your laptop then at that point the moterboard would have to be replaced.

Hook up your power adaptor to ac power without it being hooked up to the laptop and see if the green light stays on. If it does then you know your adaptor is okay. if your adaptor is only hooked up to ac power and the green light still turns off then you know your ac adaptor is bad.

Take out the battery from your laptop. Now hook up the ac adaptor to the laptop and if it stays green then you know your battery is bad but you also want to make sure you can get your laptop to turn on. Hopefully it will turn on with only the ac adaptor hooked up to it.
