Make and Model number are important to resolving this problem.

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Open the freezer door . look down the ice shoot and see if you can see daylight . If so , the ice door isn't closing , letting warm air into the shoot and bin . Without model number , can't give part numbers .

Look up into the chute from outside the door. Make sure the chute door is closing completely. That is a common problem on those but not in that short of a time. I have seen them that freeze up every few weeks or so, but yours is pretty drastic. I'm betting the door is not closing correctly.

Frost build up around ice dispenser

Does you ice dispenser serve ice through the door? If yes, then It's likely that room air is entering your freezer through the ice exit, and condensing as ice on your ice maker.

It's a very common problem; The flap isn't sealing tightly after ice is delivered through the chute. Clean you ice maker, removing all the ice, and then stuff the exit chute with plastic grocery bags. The bags will force the flap tight against the chute, and add a layer of insulation from room air. Keep an eye on ice development, for a few days, and if you're confident you've found the problem, order a replacement ice door.

I have Samsung refrigerator RFG298 series the ice maker stopped working and sounds like a dog barking when it's running any ideas what it could be ?

Possibly the gear drive faulty in the ice maker, or it could be the dispensing chute has ice blocking it from closing properly. Completely empty the ice tray and make sure there is no ice anywhere in the tray, guides or ejection chute to the front door. On some, there is a little button under the icemaker for testing and forcing an ice maker operation. Press it and see if the ice tray rotates and reloads with water.

Ice maker chute not sealing. Ice and frost is building up around the ice maker and the chute door in the freezer door.

Thank you for your post, friend!

It sounds like there could be a possible air leak within your Frigidaire refrigerator. I would check the gasket that goes around your refrigerator. The best way to test this would be to place a dollar bill between the body of the freezer and close the door. The dollar bill should stay in place and pull out with a small amount of resistance. If the dollar bill falls out when placed between the gasket and cabinet double check to see if the door is being blocked by anything stopping it from closing it. If nothing is stopping the door from closing then replace the gasket.

If the seal checks out to be fine it could be a possible problem with your dispenser or leak within your icemaker. I would recommend having a professional come out to properly diagnosis your appliance. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt

My Kenmore ice and water in the door refrigerator has the ice in the storage bin freezing into big clumps of cubes and the dispenser forces the bin out of position. It acts like the icemaker is getti

There may be ice forming in the water chute causing water to spill out of the chute and pour onto the ice in the bucket. Sometimes the water valve has a slow drip or is slow to shut off. the valve may need replacing. I doubt it is the icemaker but it could be.

When the door to the freezer is closed there is a vibration noise from the icemaker. When the door is opened, it is quiet. Also, the ice is not forming solid Thanks

Possibly there is a 2 part problem you are experiencing. 1)That vibration i dont think is the ice maker. It is your evaporator motor. 2)The fact that the icemaker is not forming the blocks nicely could be because the freezer setting could be set a little to low. The freezer temp. is what freezes the ice maker blocks. You may want to play it safe and do a 12 hour defrost which may be the reason why the vibration is heard.and reduced freezer temp.

Ice is forming in the door dispenser, damming up in the ice dispenser and blocking ice from being dispensed. Model is ZFSB23D SS. I have taken the parts off of the freezer door several times to remove the...

It sounds like the dispensor flap is not closing . Can you look down the ice shoot , and see daylight ? If so , dispensor and plunger need to be replaced . Pt # WR62x10055 . Or , if crushed ice is used quite often , this too will cause the shoot to jam . Unfortunantly , only cure for this , is to use less crushed ice . Since you've taken parts off the door before , I wont go into , how to get to and replace the solenoid and plunger .

GE Monogram refrigerator icemaker problem

This is normal if you have previously used the crushed ice mode. The refrigerator will continue to dispense crushed ice for some time until the reserves are depleted. If this continues for a longer period then shut down the refrigerator and remove the dispenser compartment, clean any remaining ice and reinstall it. Start the power supply and wait 5 hours for the ice to form. Use the cube mode and you will surely obtain ice cubes.

Ice dispenser in door clogged up or frozen

I would contact Hotpoint direct for this one. It sounds like a design fault to me.

What I think may be going on is that the cubes are melting too much, then refreezing lower down.

Set your freezer to -18, and the fridge to +2 and see if that changes things any.

Check seals in that area. Where is the moisture coming from to generate the frosting? - Is the location high in humidity?
