I have an Amana ABB2222FEW bottom freezer refrigerator. The refrigerator was warm but the freezer was icing up (plugging up the vent). I checked voltage on the defrost thermostat using "Service Test 1" and a voltometer... ~20V or so open, 120V closed. With the relay voltage confirmed, I figured my defrost heater was bad, but when I plugged it back into the defrost heater, it heated up and quickly defrosted the coils! So, now I confirmed the defrost thermostat is working, the defrost heater is working, and the fans are all working. It seems for some reason the refrigerator just wasn't going into defrost mode automatically. I'm waiting a few days now to see if it ices up again. If it does, what do I need to do to avoid having to run a manual defrost every week or so... do I need to replace the control board?
