same exact problem. This happened to me TWICE. there is a different contrast in color. It fixed by itself when i pressed "system off," however I doubt that has something to do with it. Maybe the video card is faulty I have no clue. I also highly doubt u have to change the contrast and brightness, etc. The problem goes away then comes back again on the lower left hand corner. Very common problems,through out the DLP tv life cycles could happen again again until end of the tv life itself.The tv have a problems known as a convergence picture problems,it is dead.Tv have any colors lines like R,G,B mis alignments,have colors shadow pictures or 3D pictures look alike?Yes?Than the tv convergence board it is dead.The tv convergence board must have it components parts replaced like 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors too.To fixed the tv convergence board to solved the tv convergence picture problems.The Shop will cost u like $300-350 for parts and labors.
May have burned CRT(s), (if you are not talking about convergence.) Burned CRT shows when that CRT (R,G,orB), does not show in an area of the screen where it should. Check bright white color = full R, G, and B CRT brightness. Gray = mid RGB brightness. Yellow = R+G(no B), Blue-green = B+G, no R, etc.

It is rear projection TV that use 3 picture tubes of red-green-blue to show color picture on tv front screen. Do you see standby red light blinking when TV shuts off after showing blue image for a while? If red standby light is blinking, please count it how many times it blinks, there would be 3 seconds pause between blinks so count pause to pause and post it here to find out possible solution. Thanks.
if you take the front cover off the tv, you will see 6 little nobe, the top 3 are focus, bottom 3 are brightness, should be RED-BLUE-GREEN in order from left to right, find the one that is blue, turn it down a quarter turn, should fix the problem
your convergence IC;s are out, they cost about $40, if you know how to solder, you can do it your self, if not , I would try to find somone that can, service centers charge about 4 or 5 hundred, after you get the new ones, there easy to find on the board in the back of the tv
