Refilling is no problem, but resetting the emty/full chip is very hard without specific instructions. Usually accomplished by placing scotch tape over contacts on cartridge and placing in printer in a specific sequence that resets the chip.
In order to refill the black ink cartridge on a Lexmark 1300 you need to purchase a 28a (18c1528)
cartridge. The 28 black ink cartridge is a return program cartridge and it won't let you refill it.
I found one at a site called computer friends for around $21.00. You can also google lexmark 28a ink
cartridge you can find them. I hope this helps. I've been frustrated with this problem also

As indicated in the original description, filling is easy but the printer will not print with it until the chip in the cartridge is reset to indicate that it is full of ink. I could not find a refill supplier(including the one in your solution) that has a kit, and instructions for the Z1300 printers ink cartridges.
I am sorry for that. I didn't take the time to look at and understand the rating system. I do appreciate that you tried to help.
I can not print after refilling the cartridge. It ask me to order ink?
Will not print after refilling black cartridge !!! Will only print if you check box that says Complete-A-Print . I think then it uses color ink to prink document , as I havent received a message that the color ink is low .
LEXMARK !!! $25.00 printers with no cables and black cartridge!!! Cost more for parts then the original printer Waht a piece of junk
Lexmark 1300 Printer does not allow me to print after refilling the used cartridge. Keeps requesting I order new cartridge.
I am having the same problem. I always refill my own cartridges, but when I bought this Lexmark for so cheap (now I know why!), I had no clue that I would not be able to bypass ANY printer chips. I usually find a way to bypass the printer chip. Please let me know if you find a solution. Thanks.
Use the #34 high yield cartridge. I am presently using a 34 that I refilled. You just have to put up withthe pop ups that tell you to order new ink. Just press close, then continue. it is working fine. Sometimes it asks you to report a non lexmark cartridge.
cannot reset after re-filling no 4 lexmark cartridge ??
Does anyone know the sequence to reset the chip?? I'm trying to figure it out and its only getting me more and more frusterated! I can't find one place that will give specific instructions.
Was wondering if you swapped cartridges with someone else that has the same model if that would work ? I heard that if you replace original cartridge with a "High Yield" #34 that it might solve the problem , but can't comfirm ?? Can anyone help all of us who have bought this piece of junk ?
Right !! But what are the specific sequences ???? Talked to "Geek Squad" and they have no codes to reset chip for the ink cartridges ...
Anyone find out how to reset the chip on the Lexmark Z1300 printers yet ??? Printing with color ink presently , soon both colors will expire , then what ???
