Screen is bowed or warped. Here is a quick test.... Using your original remote go-to the TV settings then go to the convergence section. Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence. You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right. If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem. Solution #1 you need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit for most models. If you don't see kits for your set send them a quick note under the contact us button please, you will get an answer within 24 hours or so.(excluding holidays Good Luck

Samsung tv smart hub picture problem

I will try to update the TV firmware first, you may log on Samsung support webpage to check is there a firmware update for your TV model & update it.
Also, you may go to the on screen menu to reset the TV to factory default to clean up the internet data buffer.

My samsung dvd-sh855m has no picture, only sound. there is no picture at all so I cannot even set the machine up. When I put a dvd in I can hear it but the screen stays black

Press the 'pscan' button on the front of the recorder 3 times and the picture will come back. This is a little sod as you only need to catch the pscan button once - if your TV doesn't support a progressive scan your picture has gone....

Good evening, I've gone through the manual and I can't get my TV to show 100hz (always 50hz), also on some channels I cannot get the picture to fit the screen (it's 32''). Any help would be greatly...

Well, first the 100Hz issue. Your TV will display a descriptor or the signal it is receiving, not a descriptor of the picture you are watching. Your TV panel has a native resolution and frequency. In your case, that frequency is 100Hz. Everything, like it or not, must be converted to 100Hz for the TV to work. In your manual, you are simply adjusting setting which smooth the picture and make it flow better than it would at 50Hz. This feature is slight of hand and is probably working just fine. As for the picture fitting the screen; HD programs fill the screen of HD channels.... SD (Standard Definition) programs use black bars on each side when on HD channels. You can use any available wide or picture size feature your TV may have to stretch the picture. You may be unable to stretch the picture, due to restrictions (some TVs will not resize HD formats).

Sony KP 51 HW 40 Blue Lines

Some of these sets had problems with bad picture tubes; there is something you can do to try to correct this without replacing any parts.

You need to look very closely at the block to identify the focus versus screen controls----one row left to right will be marked Focus and the other row left to right will be marked screen------YOU need to locate the Blue Screen control(they are black like the block) With the set on(be careful) go to a video input clip_image001.gif with nothing connected---if you see a blue screen as well as the input number turn the BLUE SCREEN CONTROL SLOWLY TO THE LEFT UNTIL THE BLUE is gone.

If this cures the problem you may only be buying yourself some time----if the blue picture tube is bad sooner or later this trouble may return----I have seen sets where this was adjusted and the set worked for a year or more with no repeat of the trouble----replacing the blue tube would likely cost you 400 - 500 parts and labor.

I do this here for free so if this has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Sounds like convergence is off. Need new Convergence amps. Could cost a couple hundred. Check around. If it has an auto converge or manual converge try that first. Check menu

Split screen on DVD player

This sounds like a progressive scan issue (unit in P.Scan Mode) here is a C&P from the manual

Set "Alt Video Out"
Highlight "Alt Video Out", then press the RIGHT button to select
one of the following options:
• S-Video - Select this if you are using the S-Video OUT jack on
the rear panel to connect to a TV.
• Component - Select this if you are using the COMPONENT
VIDEO OUT jacks on the rear panel to connect to a
Progressive(480p) or Interlaced (480i) TV.
• See your TV owner's manual to determine what type of TV you
have.
- Interlace : Interlaced Scan mode will work.
- Progressive : Progressive Scan mode will work, and Video
and S-Video will not work.
• Press the Progressive button on the front panel if you have a
Progressive scan TV only. Otherwise, the picture will be
disturbed.
