My Xbox Freezes at different times when i turn it on with or without a disc. sometimes it freezes quick sometimes it takes a little while. every time it freezes the TV makes a static noise and sometimes it turns black when it freezes sometimes the picture stays on the screen but is kind of distorted.

This is a common fault with the 360, it says that its a "general hardware failure" which could mean anything
really. In truth its the lead free solder that cracks with so much heat and as a result the Xbox 360 fails
causing the 3rrod (3 red rings of death) or e74 etc

You will need to get a 3rrod repair kit or get someone to fix it for you, there are guides available on the
internet. Im in the middle of producing one right now that i will make available free of charge for all fixya
members.

Freezes /lockups cd drive cutting circuls in your disk
is 90% of the time caused buy the C.P.U. losing
connections to the main board .

The fix is to have the C.P.U. re-flowed to
the main board and then properly clamped down

or if its still under warranty send it in to Microsoft
texas repair center for a replacement.
