I had the same problem with the Lexmark Z645 and Vista. After a lot of effort I gave up and emailed Lexmark.
Their response was surprisingly helpful:

First download and run "CleanupUtility.exe" from: ftp://ftp.lexmark.com/driver/inkjet_drivers/Cleanup/

Then unplug the printer's USB cable and restart your PC.

Then download and run the printer's drivers/install program for Vista, from: http://downloads.lexmark.com:/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:548:0:0&emeaframe=&fileID=10374&searchLang=en&searchLang=en&os_group=Windows%20Vista

Only plug the USB cable back in when the drivers/install program tells you to.

After install, I think it asks for another reboot.
Then all should work fine.

:-)

Try to power off your computer and printer and let it stay for 5 minutes. Then turn on your printer and computer to see if pending print jobs we're cancelled.

If the problem still there, you can kill the spool process running on your taskbar. Press control + alt +delete button to open the task bar and delete the process from the processes tab.

SOURCE: Printer 966. Deleting Print Job stuck in Que

Sounds like a problem with the spooler.
Try to bypass the spooler when printing by right clicking on your printer and select "properties"

Select the "advanced" tab and select "print directly to the printer".
Hoepfully this should take care of it.

I can't print the items in my printer queue. How do I get them to print?

It sounds like you have a print job stuck in the print que. When this happens the print jobs after the stuck one will not print either. You will need to clear the print que and reprint the jobs. Here is a link to an article showing how to purge the print que and get your printer back printing again.

Print que on hp 4300 says "printing" but nothing happens and I cannot clear que

Hello,

This is a common problem with Windows machines. If a print job gets corrupted in the print que it will stop and block all other jobs from printing. It will also block the job from being deleted normally. You have to stop the print que service and then delete the print jobs from the que. Here is a link to a full article that shows how to stop the que, delete the print jobs and restart the que to restore printing.

Printer keeps printing same file even though i want to print a different one

My friend, the computer and printer do what you tell them to.

Jobs are sent from the computer to the print Que and are printed according to the instructions you have provided. This is a very long shot. I suggest you open the print Que and see if there are any jobs pending. Sometimes jobs get stuck and are waiting for manual instruction from you. If jobs are stuck there - cancel or delete them. In a few very unusual cases, they will not cancel nor delete. What I do in this case is I remove the printer from the system, reboot my computer and reinstall the printer. I don't think this is necessary in your case, however.

Find the printer icon on the bar at the bottom of your window ... to the right side. Click on it and the que will open up. If it is not there, there are no jobs pending - so - send a job to the printer which will cause the icon to appear.

I think your trouble is you are not sending the job that you think you are. Assure the file you want is open then print it from within that application for best results.

I can't get my print job deleted from my print que for my printer. When I press delete. It says that it is deleting, but it doesn't remove it. It is holding up other print jobs behind it.

Stuck, leave everything on, unplug the printer cable, then turn off the printer, wait a few seconds, turn it back on and then puug it back into the PC. You should be able to delete the 1st job now, unless it came from another pc sharing your printer, then you go to that PC and delete it.
