To set the time:
Hit the SET Wake/Time Button closest to the CD player until the clock face appears in the bottom left hand of the display.
Use the TRACK Rev Search Fwd Arrows to adjust the time.
Rev will decrease by minutes and Fwd will increase by minutes.

The tubes are only in the audio amp portion of the stereo, and have nothing to do with the motor that turns the turntable.
Most likely it's that the grease on the motor is old and gummy, but becomes less viscous when it warms up.

If use box trips out when you switch ON thie DVD player, the power supply regulator board inside the DVD player has some kind of Diret Short circuit with it. The set needs through checkup, sometimes the power regulator boad may need replacement. The components of philips power supply systems are ver difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. OK.

Would you tell us the tube line-up, please? Many (most) of these older tube stereos used schematics which often differed little from each other, so with the tube line-up we could probably et you a schematic that's very close.
