Hotpoint cooker, grill doesn't work but top oven does

The top oven doubles as a grill in this 60cm cooker. First the grill elements would only work on one side then both sides stopped working at all - however the top oven still works , meaning that these same elements (which don't work when the grill knob is turned) get hot when the oven knob is operated. Any thoughts?

If the elements 'look' okay, they probably are. The 'infinite control switch' is probably the problem. With out the use of a meter, it's guess work. Unless you can see a connection problem.

The grill on my Hotpoint EW 41 Electric freestanding cooker has stopped working after my wife put aluminum foil into the grill pan which then touched the grill element causing it to 'blow' and so...

The grill element should not 'blow' by just touching it - it should be earthed. The elements do gradually disintegrate over time & the inside wire element either fractures or touches the element casing causing the mains to trip. Sometimes this makes it trip just once & then stops working. Replace the element - not usually any fuse in circuit with this. Often held in by 2 screws adjacent to the element at back of oven and conections via Fast-ons- Rick

Hi there Have recently moved into a house with a Belling 626 white, electric cooker and the grill doesn't seem to be working. It has a mian oven, top ovem and "dual grill". The main oven...

ISOLATE THE MAINS POWER BEFORE CHECKING THE APPLIANCE
Run your fingers along the grill element, in this model it is accessible, check for raised areas or small hole or roughness not food burnt, if visible, it should be Black Grey colour at the blemish, you can obtain parts from www.whitegoods.co.uk you will need the model and serial numbers.
The grill elements come out but when unsrewed sometimes the ceramic holders crack, remove element before ordering as you may have to replace the element holders.
Hope this has been helpful

I have a hotpoint ew 52 cooker and the grill does not work. it is part of the top oven.

I've an EW 71 with exactly the same problem! Hi.i have a hotpoint creda c362e cooker the rings work grill works but main oven and top oven elements dont come on even when lights come on when switched on fan works but no heat could you help me on this...

Hi.
Frpm the sympton's you list, I would say that the main oven element has failed, espsecially if the fan is working o/k.
The element is located at the rear of the oven compartment behind a removeable cover.
In addition to the grill elements in the top oven compartment, there is an additional base element which you can't see.
If you turn the top oven on, the base of the compartment should get hot, if it does not, then the base element has probably failed.
Hope this helps.

We have a hotpoint cooker UY46, our electric tripped the cooker off and , now the nob and grill works but the bottem/main oven is turning on and the fan is circulating but not getting hot ? please help ;(

You need to replace the element. Very easy job remove the back plate from inside the oven (4 screws) and you will see a circular element held in place by one screw in the centre of the fixing plate. Remove the fixing screw then remove two wires and refit new element job done.

How can i mend the grill and oven on my electric cooker?

If the rings work o/k then could be timer if it has one make sure it is set to manual and not auto.
Another thing it could be is a faulty selector switch, which selects the different functions.
Hope this helps.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Oven not getting hot

The fan oven element needs to be replaced in the Hotpoint 6150 cooker.
Access is by removing the inner rear cover of the oven, there you will see the element.
Replace with a new one.

It is possible the base element is faulty in the top oven of the Hotpoint EW95,
The other possibility is that the high speed grill element is only part working. You need to check both these elements.
If the fan is working o/k in the main oven , but not getting hot, then you need to replace the element.
If it does heat, then it could be a faulty thermostat or possibly selector switch.
Unless you have a good working knowledge of electrics and know how to use a meter, then I would suggest you call some one in.
Plz rate my solution
Thanks.
