do you get a splash screen when there is no Disc playing ( something that says something like DVD VIDEO). If not and the scren is just always black then it sounds like the backlighting circuit has failed

portable DVD's encounter that problems more often.because of its folding action, the flat wire connecting the screen to the DVD board breaks and causes no picture.try to open it up and check it or bring to a tech.
This need arepair as the controller board is giving out there is not much we can do here but send you to a GPX autherized repair to have it fixed but these things beeing so cheap now days I would just go to best buy and they will recycle this old one give you a gift cart for whatever amount they think its worth toward a new one..
Turn on power. Open lid. Enter 9735 with the remote and press 'enter', you can now choose between regions on the screen. Select the desired region unlock and press 'enter'. This works well!
The pin on a regular 3.5mm av to rca is TOO SHORT. If you get the unit from GPX, you'll note it is a bit longer. I found this problem also affected Sony and other portable DVD players - the regular 3.5mm plug is TOO SHORT. I haven't found a source other than GPX for the av cable with the correct length plug. Weird but true.
