Picture problems with a Samsung Plasma

This sounds like a short circuit in the color controller circuit board. A capacitor is opening and closing at times and causing changes. The culprit is not a primary component or you would not have a perfect picture at all. The problem requires a technician apply various test to locate the part/s causing the condition to exist. He or She may find and cure the condition on the spot.

My sansui has sound but no picture

My Answer to you> Sound..No Picture? First off...the device or appliance has two separate functions that do not totally unite with one another. True Picture and Sound need to be in Synchronization with each other; but each are independent form each other, as far as circuitry is concerned. Thus; you can have a perfect Picture (VIDEO) and no sound, or visa versa. If the VIDEO is not working, then problems with the video controller exist and this is related to the Picture Control function only. Circuit boards with electronic parts are assembled in a precise order with certain values and purposes. If for any reason one of these components fail the entire Video procedure goes crazy and does strange things. You cannot physically repair the board, and even professional technicians have difficulty doing so. Replacement is the only way to go, or purchase a whole new product.

Remote control(s) suddenly will not operate any function.

How do you KNOW the controller is Good??
There is a little Infra-red receiver behine that little glass window on the front of your TV. This has been known to go bad (assuming all those things are good that you said are good!)

No HDMI audio at all.

Could be lots of things, from bad cable, to your laptop no outputting sound, to your tv not functioning properly. A work-around might be to use the VGA output (and sound output) from your laptop until you can resolve it better.
