Tray will not close
See if the tray motor drives a belt to move the tray, if so, check if the belt is loose or broken and replace if necessary.
You can find replacement belts in electronic part stores and on internet, you need to measure the diameter of the circle that the belt forms so you'll know what to purchase, but keep in mind that the new belt will be of a slightly smaller diameter than the used one).
Also check the tray homing switches for dirty contacts or physical damage and clean/replace if necessary.
These switches are usually of a touch contact type (something alike relay contacts that are being pressed to make a contact when the tray is in either of the extreme positions - open or closed).
It may as well be something else like tray motor control section, loose wires or connectors, physical damage to any of the tray drive gears or other tray parts, a stuck/obstructed gear... i only described two of the fairly common problems that often cause the tray mechanism to fail or malfunction.
Hope you can fix it...
