SOURCE: Whirlpool Side by Side Ice Maker Not Making Ice

If you have the type of ice maker that has an ice bin on the freezer door, then there are instructions available at www.AnyoneCanFixIt.com to fix the ice maker problem. They also sell the part that is sometimes required to repair this common problem on the ice maker. The problem is notorious on these refrigerators that were made around 2004 and later. The ice maker will usually go out within 1-2 years. They have redesigned a part to eliminate the problem.

SOURCE: i have a Whirlpool refrigerator

The ice door located in the ice chute in the door is not closing. Allowing wam air in your ice bin which melts the ice at the bottom of your bin there for making a huge ice dam. Replace cirercut board at cost of 295.00

SOURCE: Ice maker bin indicator arm is stuck in the bin is full position

You should be able to move it gently to the lower position.  If it doesn't want to move don't force it.  Try shutting the ice maker off in case the arm is frozen in the up position.  After the ice maker defrosts a bit try again to move the arm gently.

SOURCE: ice maker overfills and leaks into the ice bin.

I have had a similar problem several times. What I have found is that the ice tray coating has begun to flake off. Then, the ice sticks or partially dumps. Next more ice builds up and when the valve opens the water runs over the partially emptied tray and spills into the bin making "icebergs". The remedy is to replace the tray or if that is not possible, then, the whole icemaker. In fact, I have one down stairs to put in tomorrow. They don't seem to last more than about 4 years or so.

My ice in ice maker melted then frozen again..ice maker not making ice. how do i remove the ice bulid-up in the tray and how do i reset the ice maker to produce ice?

First, clean out ice in ice bin by removing bin and rinsing water over it to melt ice. The remelting and freezing of your ice is probably not to refreezing but probably do to your water solenoid valve not completely shutting after the fill cycle and spilling over into bin and then freezing. Take your model number to searspartsdirect.com and you should find your solenoid water valve on the water circuit diagram.

Ice maker not working

Depends on the model of ice maker you have but most have a removable bin, take the bin out dump out the ice, run water through it and set aside to dry. Make sure the chute is clear and put the bin back. Do this twice a year and you wont have any problem with your ice maker

Can you turn the ice maker off like other refrigerator ice makers? I didn't see anyway to turn my ice maker off or do I empty the ice out everytime?

Most ice makers have a control arm that raises and lowers to check for a full condition. It usually raises during the dump cycle and lowers during the fill cyle. If it is unable to lower (because the bin in full) it should shut off the fill cycle. If that function is not working, then if you move that control arm to the fully raised position, it should shut of the fill cycle, until you manually lower it again.

NEED PROCEDURE FOR REMOVING THE ICE MAKER FOR INSPECTION AND TROUBLESHOOTING. FRIG IS NEW...ICE MAKER NOT MAKING ICE !!!!!

Are you sure you have the ice bin properly in place?

Ice bin must be locked in place for proper ice dispensing. If necessary, turn auger driver behind ice bin counterclockwise to properly align ice bin with auger driver.

• Press the switch ON to activate ice maker. Slide bin into guide rails located on either side of the enclosure. Push the ice bin in until resistance is felt. Raise the front slightly and push the ice bin completely in. An audible "click" is heard when the ice bin is located correctly.

• After freezer section reaches between 0° to 2° F (-18° to -17° C), ice maker fills with water and begins operating. You will have a complete harvest of ice

approximately every hour.

• Allow approximately 3 to 6 hours after installation to receive first harvest of ice.

• Discard ice created within the first 12 hours of operation to verify system is flushed of impurities.

• Stop ice production by pressing the ON/OFF switch located on the front of the ice maker.

• The first one or two batches will probably contain undersized and irregular cubes because of air in the supply line.

• When the ice cubes are ejected it is normal for several cubes to be joined together at the ends. They can easily be broken apart. The ice maker will

continue to make ice until the supply of ice cubes raises the ice maker arm, shutting the ice maker off.

• Certain sounds may accompany the various cycles of the ice maker. The motor may have a slight hum, the cubes will rattle as they fall into an empty storage bin and the water valve may click or "buzz" occasionally.

I have a Maytag MFI2568AEW refrig. and the ice maker is not filling up. I checked the dual water valve and it is not getting power to open the solenoid valve with the ice maker switch on and the ice bin...

On typical ice makers that signal comes from within the ice maker. It sends a signal from the ice makers thermostat and the ice maker begins to pre-heat the ice cube slots and the ice rake begins turning to push the ice out of the slot's and into the ice bin. The last function is to refill the water with a signal to the dual water control valve that last about 7.5 seconds. Once the ice maker senses the water is frozen again it begins this cycle again. Here is a refrigerator parts PDF for your model=> MFI2568AEW and on page 10 you will see part=> 627985 Pin Style Icemaker Thermostat

Kenmore Coldspot Ice Maker Modle #106 56622500 I

these have to be in correctly to lock back in and allow the unit to function. Try removing the bin again and be sure there isn't any small pieces of ice trapped anywhere. Also make sure there aren't any broken pieces from the bin. Hope this helps. Good luck.

The bin arm on my Uline Model 402 ice maker broke off. I have a replacement bin arm. I took off the front plate of the ice maker unit, but am unable to thread the bin arm all the way through the bin arm...

1st remove the icemaker from the unit. Then take the faceplate off.You might find that the support housing is fighting you.You should be able to move the arm into place as long as the icemaker is out.
