Hi, their are a couple of options you have you can buy a oil filter remover tool that goes all the way round the oil filter to undo it.

They get pretty tight over time as the heat from the engine welds them on so can be difficult to loosen.

If you are using the removing tool then dont worry about breaking the filter as it will come off broken or not.

The other option you have is stab a thick screwdriver threw the filter so it comes out the other side you will get some oil coming out of the hole so put bucket under neath, now with the screw driver stabbed through try undoing it slightly.
With the screwdriver stabbed through it this should give you more leverage and loosen slightly once loosened remove screwdriver then undo by hand.

It dont matter if you damage the filter just make sure you have something under neath as it has about half a liter of oil in it.

They do get stuck tight but it will undo dont worry about breaking it as you will be replacing with a new one.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok.

Citroen 1.5 blue oil filter housing

This engine uses the cartridge style filter and Not the screw on type. It is positioned on the front of the engine.
*NOTE* Do this with the engine oil COLD as engine oil can reach 250'F (120'C) and will cause burns!
Stand with your knees against the front grill and look down between the radiator and engine block. On the right side, (your right), on the engine next to the exhaust manifold there should be a large round, black plastic cap with a large bolt head shape on the top. This is usually a 27mm.
It is plastic so don't use too much force when unscrewing it and you might need to turn it a lot before it lifts off. The filter has rubber seal rings on it making it tight but it should just pull up and out.
When refitting install by HAND first to avoid stripping the threads. Tighten until it just becomes tight then STOP. The cap does not need to be too tight as it is on the Low pressure side of the oil system.
I've attached a photo as a guide.

Jag Stype 6 cyl. getting restricted performance and car feels powerless when this light comes on.

Your picture of the light didn't seem to come through. Several things will cause restricted power.... a dragging emergency break, a plugged fuel filter, plugged air filter, plugged exhaust pipe and finally check all the fluid levels in the motor as some cars have a limp mode if a level is too low, especially on the oil side.... also make sure the gas cap is tight... a lot of viechle will act up if the vapor return line doesn't have the proper pressure in the gas tank. Next would be wires and plugs, distributer cap and distributer button... spark plugs can run fine at low rpm but foul at higher rpm.

2005 Toyota Corolla oil sensor leak

Use a little screwdriver and pry those plastic clips for the connector up just a little, then remove the electrical connector. If you break a plastic clip, no big deal (it's just your karma), The connector usually stays on tight anyway. Now if you can get a socket on it, just turn it easily, see if it was loose. If it is tight, it may need a new gasket or seal there to stop the leak. Might try turning it tight just a little, even an 1/8 or quarter turn. See if that stops it from leaking. Or you could unscrew it and get a new gasket or seal for it.
Good luck.

Can not find oil filter

  • It's an internal oil filter not the traditional screw on/off oil filter. Open your hood and look pon the right side of your engine --- See pic below.

ironfist109_351.jpg

  • Be careful not to break that plastic housing. Just stick a socket on the stub on top and screw it out. Pull the paper filter out and replace with new one. Make sure to put all new gaskets on (come with filter). You can also use a strap wrench around the entire outside (black part) of the housing.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

How do i do a self oil change on a 1995 jeep grand cherokee

locate oil drain plug on oil pan, engine off. take out oil plug with wrench, drain oil into a big pan or similar. when oil is drained remove oil filter and put new one on, put some new oil on filter seal with finger then screw on to car as tight as you can get it by hand. do not use a fiter wrench to tighten filter only hand tight. use oil filter wrench to take off old oil filter. when filter is on put plug back in oil pan and tighten. then add your new oil to reccomended oil level.

Location of oil filter

on the camry with the 2.4L inline 4, the oil filter is located just behind the plastic shield which extends below the front of the car... it will be on the passenger side, and is best removed with the variety of oil filter wrench which attaches to a ratchet (custom fit super graphite from shcuck's is the best I've found). I DO NOT recommend you use a strap type, or serrated jaw type wrench on this car, or you WILL have to remove the plastic shield, and waste a lot of time in the process.
On a camry equipped with the 3.0L V6, the oil filter is on the driver's side of the engine - mounted sideways. you SHOULD be able to get it through the driver's side wheel well. You WILL spill oil getting this one off - it's almost impossible not to, so be prepared for this. I'd personaly reccomend the type of wrench that attaches to a ratchet for this filter, but a strap or serated jaw type might work as well.
Hope this helps

Instructional guide oil change

Check your owners manual for the following info: Engine oil requirements, which would be what engine oil weight is right for your car. It will be #'s such as 5W 30. Use the weight recommended by chevy. The manual will also tell u how much u need. Go to an auto parts store, where u will need to purchase the following: 1. engine oil (they should be able to look up the weight requirement for your car, 2. oil filter, get a quality filter. An easy way to determine that is the weight of the filter. A good filter has a valve in it to prevent oil from draining out when the engine is off. This way when u start the car, u have oil pressure right away. You can also ask for advice on what they feel is a good filter.3. Filter wrench, to remove the oil filter. You can determine the correct size by seeing if it fits on the new filter. Ok, take it all home and: the car should be at operating temperature, either jack up the car or buy a set of ramps to drive it up on so u can get under the car. Make sure the car is supported on safety stands, never go under a car w/ just a jack holding it up. Block the rear wheels front and back so the car can't roll, put the emergency brake on, leave it in gear if it's a standard trans, in park for auto trans. Go under the car to remove the oil pan drain bolt. Be careful as surfaces and oil will be hot. Have a good size plastic pan, or something similar (u can also buy a oil drain container especially made for this) under the car. Remove the drain plug, letting the oil drain for 15 minutes or so, to let it drain completely. The reason u drain it w/ engine hot is to drain the oil quickly and completely, cold oil would take a long time to drain. Remove the oil filter w/ your wrench. I assume your filter is accessed from under the car. A few (not many) allow u to remove the filter from above in the engine compartment. With a clean rag, wipe off the area where the oil filter screws on. Make sure the old gasket isn't stuck on (rare, but it does happen). Also clean the area around the drain bolt. Replace the drain bolt, do not use brute force to tighten it, you want it on good and snug, not loose or so tight you ruin the threads. Now coat the gasket on the new oil filter w/ new clean engine oil, screw on hand tight. Go by the oil filter instructions on the box, usually u tighten til it just makes contact w/ the engine, then tighten one half to one full turn more.
Add the required amount of oil, start up and let it run for a few minutes, check for any leaks. Check your level several times a month so u know how often to add oil. U shouldn't wait 'til its down a quart to add oil, if its down half a quart, top it off. Your engine will reward u with a long life w/ this care (change every 3k miles). Don't overfill ever, as too much oil is bad for the engine, it causes the oil to foam, and u loose your lubrication. Many garages, town and city recycling centers, oil change shops will accept used oil to recycle. Whoa! seems a lot more complicated than it really is! Let me know if u have any questions. countrycurt0
