I just started getting horizontal lines on my Canon A410 images. I tried changing the capture resolution to no effect. The lines are more noticeable in the highlight areas. I realize this is probably toss it, and buy a new camera. I was wondering if this is a common problem with digital cameras. Thanks.
I think is a common problem since my camera ( same model ) have the same problem.I think is a common problem since my camera ( same model ) have the same problem.

This is known problem of ccd imager chip failure in Canon A95 camera, ccd imager chip will be replaced to get clear picture. It was coincidence that problem occurred at same time when you did some settings but it is not setting problem. Canon offers free of cost ccd imager replacement. Click Canon CCD Imager Advisory for details.
try to change the color ink. horizontal banding (the pink or other color lines appearing means horizontal banding) when there is a problem on one of the heating element of the printer head. since almost all canon printers have head built in the inks, replacing the faulty ink will solve the problem. if not then the controller of printhead on the carriage and mainboard needs to be checked.
Featuring 520TV line horizontal resolution in color mode and 570TV line horizontal resolution in BW moe. The camera features Sony’s 410,000 pixel CCD and capture clean, noiseless high-quality image
I had the same problem on two different makes. Again, go to settings and reduce exposure, avoid magnifying above the standard line indicator and reduce ur resolution to 1 less than max. I am convinced, sans data, that the lag time for higher res may be just enough to mis-time flash. Good luck.
It is certainly the CCD failing.
Now you have had it over a year so warranty is out.
But there have been instances of certain CCD's being subject to a recall- and the camera being replaced.
Give Canon a support a go - you may get lucky.
Hi,
The A410 can only record a maximum of 3 minutes. That sucks becasue it doesn't matter what resolution you use, it will max out at 3 minutes.
