remove 4 hex screws .059 dia, and one micro phillips from tripod mount hole. carefully pry halves apart and re-seat both ends of the ribbon cable push in end tabs with a small needle. turn camera on to verify lcd is working. carefully reverse disassembly procedure.

The problem is that the heat by the chassis of the screen LCD melts the insulating material of some electric cords located behind this one ( when the cords are in contact with the chassis).
To fix the problem it is necessary to disassemble the apparatus by the four back screws, to check the cords (red and black and on the upper part on the right on mine) and to do again insulation

Hey, try this FIRST. I just did it accidentally and it fixed for me. I got this camer as a parts camera on Ebay for $20 bucks. You know how there is a line in between the front and the back of the camera. Just hold the camera inbetween your fingers and shift it. Could be that you dropped your camera and the front and back shifted.

I fixed mine!

When you say 'played back', do you mean viewed on the camera screen, or after downloading to your computer ? If the latter, it could be to do with the software you are using - try FastStone.

When trying to take pictures outside the screen goes blank.

Try to manually make it so that it is set to outdoor settings. Or maybe try low brightness and no flash.

When taking pictures outside the view screen after picture taken appears as a bright burst of white light. Inside picture appear fine. Any ideas?

let me see if i understand. if you llok at the screen it looks ok, but after you take the picture it will record only a white bright image.....

in some cases you can easily fix this by goining into your camera option and restoring default settings. it is the exposure setting .

if you camera still giving you just black white images the light sensor in the machine ahs gone bad, it needs to be replace.

Blank LCD on Canon A95

Believe that you accidentally pressed the DISP button on the bottom back row of your camera. This manually turns the display on and off as desired to save batteries. Press the button once more to turn it back on.

Bright white light

I have had the same problem with my F-700

After calling Fujifilm Custom support here in Spain, I've noticed that camera series had a common failure at CCD SENSOR, NOT THE SCREEN.

IF THE PROBLEM IS CCD (IMAGE SENSOR) FUJIFILM WILL REPAIR IT FOR FREE!!!!

I AM NOT KIDDING. I'RECEIVED A MAIL FROM FUJI SPAIN ABOUT THAT

ALSO CHECKED THAT AT FUJIFILM USA THEY REPAIR IT FOR FREE

I guess the problem is CCD (at least in mine) because:

1- Started with
intermitent colour distorsions (dissapearing from time to time)
2- The problem became more frequent as time passed by
3- THE IMAGE IS PERFECT WHEN I PLAY PICTURES FROM THE MEMORY CARD

GOOD LUCK !
