Question about Emerson Televison & Video

Dvd recorder Emerson EWR10D4 will not recognize any dvd disc will only play every blank disc i have tried it says error cannot record on this disc have tried multipl kind so disc and speeds.This is the second i have identical to another that i have and i have no problems with it and tried disc i know works on it but it wont work on it.Bought it the person i bought it from did an upgrade he said,is there a faactory reset or anything that will take care of this?

If the person did a firmware upgrade,he might have flashed it with a bad firmware,or the wrong one.You will need to get the original firmware and reflash it and see if that helps.
The other option is the laser might have gone bad in it.

Unfortunately, the EWR20V5 does not handle DVD +R or DVD +RW discs for recording. It can play back some of these discs, when recorded and finalized on another recording device. However, it may not recognize some DVD +R/+RW discs at all. This recorder recognizes all DVD -R/-RW discs. This is a common manufacturing design for DVD/VCR recorders.

It will not play any discs and comes up play back error ? Is there any way to reset it ?

Is it still recording?, if not
It sounds like the laser ( optical pick up) has failed, or something relating to this, there is no affective way to reset the machine to improve this problem, it is highly likely that the machine is beyond economical repair if the laser has failed.

first you must clean the laser whith alcohol,second try to change a dvd disc.

I bought some DVD-RW blank Memorex discs (up to 4x, 4.7 gb). But they will not initialize in my Emerson EWR10D4 DVD Recorder). The error is "cannot record on this disc" E7 28031100

Try using a DVD+RW disc

I get error E3 anytime I try to finalize a dvd

I just bought a DVD cleaner cd and I have not had a problem since. It wont format the old ones that didn't work before, but new ones are perfect

When I bought my emerson ewr10d4 about 2-3 years ago, the machine only recorded on disks that were rated at 2x or 4x speed. And it didn't accept off-brand disks, it only liked the major brands like Maxell, TDK, Memorex, Sony. I learned this quirk the hard way. Eventually, when I called the 1-800 number, they sent me a disk to upgrade the recorder to 8x speed (and it was very simple to do - basically just pop it in). Helped a lot, although this year most disks in stores are 16x speed, and as of a couple months ago (November 2008) emerson didn't have a newer up-to-date upgrade available. But if you didn't do the 8x upgrade yet, call them and start there. It's a small improvement, but an improvement nonetheless. By the way, if anyone wants to buy some lesser-known chinese and japanese-brand disks, I may be able to help!

emerson dont have cotex u need buy samsung emerosn worse brand to play new dvds ok just wont read them right its dvd it self players cotex not up to par to read newer dvds samsung makes best 1080 p upconverting one 79 at circiut city i seeen thzx inck

They work with the funai machine.
Its worth a try.

It might be that its not a problem with a specific device. DVD recorders tend to downgrade on quality when recording longer sessions. on some models the quality drop is felt on sessions of 3 hrs. and longer, but this may vary. if you just recently started leaving the recorder on to record for longer periods then this might explain it.
