On my black env2 when i go to keyguard settings, it only gives the option of how much time before it locks, but for my brother who has a maroon env2 , he does have the unlock option of 1 or 2 step unlock. does this problem only occur with black env 2's?

The automatic lock feature of your phone is turned on. To turn it off, from 'menu', go to 'settings', then scroll to 'phone settings', scroll to 'keyguard', scroll to 'automatic lock', select it, you would see two options; 'on' and 'off' select 'off'.
This would turn off the automatic lock. You would then only be able to unlock your phone whenever you so wish.
hi, press MENU then asterisk * and your phone will be locked..to unlocked it just repeat the procedure...if you want automatic locked of your phone do this.... *MENU *SETTING *PHONE SETTING *KEYGUARD SETTINGS *AUTOMATIC KEYGUARD *you have option there ON and OFF ,select ON now your phone is in automatic locked status ,even you forget to locked it ,it will be safe and avoid dialing...
i hope it will help you ,thanks for trusting fixya..
With the flip closed, press OK. #6 in the menu that pops up is Keyguard Settings. Select 6 and choose 2. Unlock Options. Then choose a 1 or 2-step unlock (OK versus OK and Clear)
I have a black one too, but I was able to set both the OK and CLR buttons to unlock it. If you go into the settings on the front keypad, go down to keyguard settings, then unlock options, you should be able to choose Two Step Unlock. That will enable you to hit OK then CLR to unlock.
while the phone is closed ! under settings and tools there is an option for keyguard timer. you can choose how long or turn it off all together! :-) took me forever to figure out the whole closed part! :-D
On the front keypad, press the ok button until you have the option to select contact list. Scroll down that list until you see keyguard settings. Press ok to enter keyguard settings and then go to option 2 - unlock options. Select two step unlock. This will force the user to press "ok" and then "clr" in order to dial out. This has resolved the problem for me...Good luck.
When your phone is closed, hit OK for the menu, then hit 6 for Keyguard Settings. There, you can not only change the time it takes for the keyguard to automatically go on, but ALSO change the keyguard unlock options from One Step Unlock (just hitting ok) to Two Step Unlock (hitting ok then clr). It's not a 4 digit code, but it's a lot better than just hitting ok, and much more time efficient than locking your phone every time you put it in your pocket.
The options for the keyguard can only be accessed from the front screen. If you open up the enV and try to find the option it's not there, so on the front screen go into Settings & Tools, Keyguard.
I just called Verizon about the keyguard being too easy to unlock and they were clueless. But here's a solution: As above, using the OUTSIDE keypad, click OK, go down to keyguard settings (number 6), then hit unlock options (number 2). This gives you the option of using a one step unlock process (hitting the OK key) or a two step (hitting the OK then the Clear). I think it is still too easy to accidently answer the phone but at least this will cut down on the dialing.
