Can't scan with hp officejet 3600 get message to refer to user manual...don't have one

I have managed to find a user guide for the Officejet J4580, which is what a search on the HP website brings up. You can download it here:

Please download the User's Manual for HP Office Jet 4355
Refer to Chapter 8 Page 69 for stepwise instruction for scanning.

Try scanning from Hp Solution Centre, I am sure it will scan, if not than please provide me the error message

The cartridges may need to be cleaned by the printer. Check for this option on your user's manual, they will usually refer to it as a nozzle check/clean.
If the cartridge is clogged and does not unclog replace the ink cartridge. Contrary to what people might think these cartridges have a shell life and can be faulty out of the box.
