Ford Mondeo 2002 6CD auto changer. Error message E 3

According to the Ford Handbook Error Message E3 is "Mechanical Error " and their suggestion is "Install a new Audio Unit "....which is not very helpful

There`s not much that can be done as a D-I-Y solution with these CD Units apart from cleaning the laser lens with a cleaning disk+solution (from your local audio Store or Ebay etc)....or a full reboot ...by disconnecting the unit from the battery for 20 minutes , replacing it and hoping that it will have reset itself.

Make sure you have the correct radio code before attempting this disconnection procedure ( If not, just post the Serial Number (found on a label on the casing) and someone will calculate the correct code.
