Trying to use Toshiba "recovery Disk creator"

I get a disk error message when trying to use recovery disk creator on my Toshiba L505 laptop. Says I can't use the disk please insert DVD-r, etc.. It's a CD-R 40x 700mb. Do I need a larger disk? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you. I just went by what the guy at office depot told me. CD's would work. Anyway, I'll have to get back and buy the larger dvd-r's. I'll let you know if it doesn't work. Thanks again.

If it states that you should insert a DVD-R, you probably should do just that.

I get the error message when i try to create media recovery for my laptop toshiba l505. the error messsage is "no HDD recovery area", "the toshiba recovery media creator cannot be...

I am glad to HELP YOU!

When you start to create the RECOVERY MEDIA your machine is creating a virtual file [a temporary one...] that includes all parameters and drivers and system files of your operating system; once the temporary file is done the recovery files are written on the indicated media [a hard drive or a DVD/CD].
Because of the huge size of the file [the temporary one] you need enough room for the virtual file to be created.
So you got your error message just because you DON'T HAVE ENOUGH ROOM on your hard drive.
My suggestion is: find an external drive [a USB attached hard drive] and make the RECOVERY MEDIA there. Meanwhile try to clean up a little bit your hard drive by using that application in Windows called DISK CLEANER [START > ALL PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > DISK TOOLS > DISK CLEANER].

My best regards!
... and don't forget to RATE, please...

I have a Toshiba Satillte L505-S5971 Got something

Your original hard disk may have a recovery partition on it. You may be able to restore the Toshiba to Out of the Box condition, but it will wipe out your data so bach up your data first. For instruction to restore your Toshiba, click on this link and follow my instructions :-

Need to wipe out laptop how do i get the recovery downloads

Is your computer still working? You need to create the restore disks using TOSHIBA, TOSHIBA Recovery Disk Creator.

You may have to contact TOSHIBA if you want to purchase restore disk to put it back to the factory condition.

If you want it free, you may have to download a copy of windows from a torrent site like isoHUNT, then download your drivers from toshiba.
If you download the same version of windows that was installed, you may be able to use the COA windows key on your laptop

RecoveryDisk Creator does not offer any disk selections to create

To access the recovery partition you need to boot up on a DVD with a partition manager on it, then set the hidden partition as "ACTIVE" and un-Active, the existing partition, then remove DVD and reboot, then the laptop will boot from the recovery partition and should autorun start the recovery procedure.

NO HDD RECOVERY AREA !

first boot pc, then right before windows would start, press either F2 or F8,, I think it's F2, this will bring you to bios settings, look for bootup device options, Set cd-rom as first bootup device, then Hard drive as second device, Then save settings, insert recover cd, then restart pc, it will immediately boot up your recover cd or windows disc

Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator isn't working

hello lazerr_man,

Try to use another freeware burnprogram like burnatonce to create an
other CD, just to check if the Combo-drive is writing properly.

If you don't get any error messages like the ones from Toshiba program, then the problem is the toshiba software.

If other burn programs find difficulties in accessing CDs or DVD-Rs
then the drive itself giving you a hard time and might seek for replacement.

You may find the toshiba exchange parts too expensive and the internal drive is still reading disks properly, then think about an external dvd-rw drive, but make sure to buy a highspeed USB one (or even firewire, if the laptop has the port), else it will run rather slowly.

good luck

Sound drivers for Xp sp2

For specific models with different chipset drivers, you can get the sound driver & pretty much everything else on support.toshiba.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, "Tecra, Portege", & sometimes "Qosmio" models came with a built-in HDD recovery, meaning you need to create your recovery disk by running the "Recovery Disk Creator". An application to create your recovery disk. A shortcut is created on the desktop by default, if you cannot find it there, try looking at "C:\Program Files\Toshiba\Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator" & run the "exe" file, it should give you a menu to create one. After creating the disk, you can use that disc to install the drivers for all Toshiba pre-installed devices/softwares on that machine. For Satellite models, the disc should come with the laptop when you boughtt it. When you have the disc, just insert it inside of windows, it will give you options to install the driver & software for a specific toshiba device.

Hope this helps.
