Best place to buy a lens for that camera in on EBAY....cameras, even digitals, are made to take a drop, but, sometimes it can hurt the camera, over times it shouldn't...buy a new lens, and give it a try.

I dropped my camera and when i switch it on, it says lens error.

This is a common problem it seems where people drop their cameras and they need to be repaired by a service center for Sanyo.

I dropped the camera while it was off. When I turn it on it says "lens error".

This is very common problem when the camera is dropped. You can first try to carefully wiggle the lens while the camera is turning on (lens extracting). Sometimes this is enough, but if the damage is more severe, you'll need to get it fixed.

Lens won't extend. turned power on and error displayed, LENS ERROR. It stopped working after it was dropped.

This is probably THE most common failure among digital cameras, and one of the more common causes is dropping the camera.

There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here:

Very common problem with the Coolpix, unless under warranty the camera is not economical to repair.

I DROPPED THIS CAMERA & SINCE THEN IT DOESN'T POWER ON

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:
