Press the telephone button first with one finger and immediately after you press that button press the rewind button, The unit should go into rewind and erase should be flashing on the digital display. When the unit starts rewinding take your finger off of both buttons, if you keep them on ,then the unit will rewind and stop erasing .
Way to go. Usually if you use anisotropic Alcohol with a few Q-tips works well I've found. Try cleaning the other tap path items like the capstan that the pinch roller get's pushed up to also with this Alcohol. The cleaner the better the tape goes through. Much better picture. The photo sensor that senses the tape end has blown or dry soldered. It is on the right side of the mechanical deck and senses the transparent end of the tape through the square hole in the video cassette.
try this:
some cameras have a memory where they begin make sure the memory is off or cleared then try to rewind or try fwd to end clear memory then rewind tape...
now sometime tapes of 120 are really not recommended because of the load of tape amd ost have a tension sensor 60m is usually the best recommended

2nd. Some machines have a special rubber wheel in the center, between the left [ take up or rewind ] & right [ play\record ] assemble. VERY diffiult to repair if u don't know what u are doing.
3rd. Find & REplace EVERY rubber band that u find in the machine.
it requires a switch block assembly. this part includes the keyboard for play, rewind etc.. part # is 1-477-084-31 part should run you about 30 bucks.
