Usually, a device will renegotiate a slower speed to compensate for interference. slower speeds are sometimes the most reliable. Its possible to change your wifi channels and try to get one that has less interference, and maintain a stronger signal. You might also want to ensure that any cordless phones in your area are NOT on the same frequency range as your router, because as soon as "Old Great Aunt Mildred" calls you or your neighbor, your wifi goes bye bye.

Netgear wireless router: WNA3400 Netgear wireless USB adapter: WNA1100 Can get it to connect at 150 mbs but after a few minutes it always goes back to 65 mbs. Thanks.

It seems that your network is getting wireless interference and that is the reason why the adapter is dropping the connection to a lower speed. Please go ahead and change the wireless channel on the wireless router to resolve the issue.

Please revert for any further clarification.

Netgear WG111v3 adapter keeps stopping

Please do not use the USB Extension cable that came with the adapter and instead connect the adapter directly to the computer on USB port. You may try connecting it to a diffrent USB port. Otherwise, please update the drivers for the adapter from the below link:

Why is my connection to my netgear wpn111 so low?

Please follow these troubleshooting steps when you are unable to connect at maximum speed with your NETGEAR wireless adapter:-

1)Open the utility for your Netgear adapter and go to the Settings tab.
2)Click on Advanced Settings.
3)In Advanced settings, make sure the maximum wireless speed options (in this case, 108 and 54 ) are enabled under Wireless mode.
4)Click OK to apply the settings. Your adapter is now configured to connect at the highest wireless mode.

If these these steps does not make any difference then upload the latest drivers for the adapter. In this case it will be version 3.0.
Following is the link that will guide you to how to update the drivers for the adapter(WPN111):-

Internet connection frequently drops, don't know why. Still connected to router, though not getting internet. Unplugging wireless adapter and plugging it back in fixes the problem...temporarily.

Hi

IF THE WIRELESS CONNECTION DROPS, try the following troubleshooting steps
1) connect Modem-Router-Computer
2) Open router UI (www.routerlogin.net)
3) User name : admin , Password: password
4) on the left hand side in the blue panel select Wireless settings (under Setup)
5) SSID: (user defined)
Channnel : 11 or 6
mode : upto 54 mbps or 150 mbps
Security : WPA-PSK (TKIP)
PASSPHRASE : (user defined)
Click apply
This should resolve the problem.

If the problem still persists u can try upgrading the drivers of the wireless USB adapter.

WG111: junk? Extremely slow speeds and getting dropped a lot

Make sure to set the wireless chanel on to a specific channel. As with Vista there are some issues with wireless connection when the router is broadcasting at AUTO mode. Try diffrent channels on the router and choose the one that works best.

Also, it is advisable to resintall the adapter using the latest adapter drivers from the link below:

Hope this helps.
