Question about Maytag 22.6 cu. ft. Side-By-Side Refrigerator with PuriClean II Ice and Water
The light on the outside door (where the ice/water dispenser is) won't turn off. It is dimmer than when you hit the 'light' button, but it stays on constantly when the door is shut. The 'light' button works and turns the bulb brighter, but when you turn it off, it just dims and doesn't go out. The light shuts off when the door is open and turns back on when its closed. Reprogramming your refrigerator to only light up when the dispenser is in use saves energy and keepsyour house
darker at night. The light is controlled using the buttons above the water dispenser mechanism.Press and hold the "Lock" or "Lock Controls" button for three seconds to activate the controls if they currently are locked.Tap the "Light" button to switch off the light.Press and hold the "Lock" button for another three seconds to lock the controls from further changes. The light now only comes on when the dispenser is active.
If the above procedure won'
t work then this will be the cause of a faulty switch. This light switch is an integrated part of the dispenser control circuit board. This will require you, or your service tech
to replace the entire dispenser/ice maker control board. It will be located just behind the dispenser fascia, mounted on a bracket. the actual light switch circuit is mounted on this board.
Try this procedure:-
Shutdown the unit for five minutes. Simply unplug the unit for this length of time. This will reset the board, and possibly, fix this fault if it is not to severe. If the shutdown dose not correct the switch action, simply replace the dispenser/switch control circuit board.
