Toner sensor board

I have been told my Phaser 7300 needs a new Toner sensor board. Is this something I can replace myself or is there calibration that a service technician needs to do?

  • Ron928 Dec 06, 2007

Thanks for your comment. We did talk to a Service tech. and they want 2 hrs of service time ($300) to install the board. I think I can install it, but after talking with the office people I think it may be just a bad flag. The error message is always on the Cyan toner, it is intermittent and most of the time it says that the toner cartridge should be replaced. Do you think it could just be a bad Flag?? If it was a bad board should we not get other toner color errors??

I have a Phaser 1235 which has a similar setup with sensors above the toner cartridges.  The magenta mostly, but cyan and yellow once in a while. (U22, U23, U24 error, etc.) (toner cartridge missing) So I'm to understand that the sensor hammer bounces and causes a time out, (error) is that correct?  Thanks for your input.

This may or may not help but I was able to greatly reduce the number of times the error occurs by taping a small piece of very soft foam rubber above the sensor flag with double sided tape. This will do for now until I can learn more about the repair.

Forgot to mention there is a tech note on this I heard and it talks about a "bounce" of the flag sensor and a time out causing the problem.

Before replacing the board, check the toner dispenser.
the dispenser is the black plastic assembly around the toner cartridge. If you remove the front cover, sort of brown, look at the dispenser auger, it is surronnded by a very soft plastic sleve.
I suspect most likely that dispenser or auger is the problem.
I would say that is the more likely problem, in the 80 pecent range.
It may just need vacuumed out.

If you are comfortable taking apart your machine you could probably do it. The part can be ordered from a reseller online. The service manual for how to do it can also be downloaded from online sources. The service manual does not make a recomendation for any calibrations after replacing this part. Although a standard color calobration never hurts. But for the cost of the part, and one to two hundred bucks, you could get it fixed by a Certified Xerox Service Provider that will guarantee their work.

Does it give a specific error number, or does it just say to replace the toner?

Help with u2 code on phaser 7300

U2 is an engine EEPROM failure - you'll need to replace the main board to fix that, I'm afraid.

Fuser upper failure is the message i am getting on my xerox phaser 7300. can anyone help please

Hello, The fuser or fuser roller is what actually bonds or melt the toner on to your paper. There is probably some type of temperature sensor, that senses the temperature of the fuser. If its not hot enough or just plain dead, it will give out an alarm similar to what your getting. You probably need to replace the fuser unit. You have a lower fuser and an upper fuser. You might be able to get away with just replacing the upper roller. The roller has a heating element inside and that's what probably defective.
Hope this Helps

The Phaser 7300 is being shut down because of a wrong signal that the transfer unit is at the end of its life. The transfer unit is a month old on a unit that has medium usage. It should not be at the end...

I think you might have a Spring missing for the Waste Toner Full Sensor. Truthfully, it is really hard to describe in a few sentences.

It belongs in the frame wall under near where you have the white waste toner section of the Transfer Belt. This spring pushes a flag up that hits the Paper Entrance Sensor (yes, near the bypass tray)

The PN for the spring is 116-2050-00

I have a phaser 7300 that asks for a transfer unit about every 3 weeks. It prints good until it asks for unit and then it will not print until I install a new one. I am ready to install the 4th unit but...

I think you might have a Spring missing for the Waste Toner Full Sensor. The machine tolerates the sensor status for 2K pages and then shuts it down.

The "Reseat Toner Cartridge" message keeps appearing, if I open and close the lid the message goes away and it seems to print normally.

There is a firmware issue that causes that problem.
You can download it from the Xerox.com site and upgrade your machine. The instructions on doing that upgrade are also on the site.
Go to Xerox.com. Then click Suport and Drivers, then enter 7300, then to drivers and downloads and scroll down to the firmware update.

We have two printers and both of them have the following error command when we print. Reseat or Install Magenta Cartridge. This command is repeated on other colours at random

Issue could be caused by a couple of things. Could be the Toner Sensor Actuator's, located in the top cover. Could be the toner Sensor Board, also located in the top cover. Could be the Engine Controller Board.

Any one of these three can cause this issue. You can watch my tutorial video on how to replace the Toner Sensor Actuator's on YouTube. It's about 10 minutes long. Just search for Xerox 7300.

Xerox phaser 7300 toner cartridge problems

Hi,
Sometimes on this machine as there is a lot of loose toner around it can cover over the sensors in the machine, what I would advise is to remove all the toner cartridges and check for the copper contacts on both the machine and under the imagining unit (which the toner is placed in). Once you have cleaned that away slowly close the lid and reboot the machine and it should return to normal. Its just toner getting caught up in the sensors. Follow the instructions below, when you remove the unit, lift it over your head to find the copper contacts and clean them, be careful not to spill toner everywhere. Good luck!

Reseating the imaging unit
    Remove the toner cartridge:
  1. Open the top cover.
    openthetop196x185.gif
caution_image88x30.gif The imaging units are sensitive to light. Do not expose the imaging units to light any longer than necessary to remove it and cover it. Failure to follow these instructions may damage the imaging units.
  2. Identify the color of the toner cartridge to be replaced (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow or Black).
    identifycolor176x179.gif
  3. Move the orange lever on the toner cartridge to the right so that it unlocks.
    moveleverright204x202.gif
  4. Lift on the back side of the toner cartridge first, then guide the cartridge out of the printer.
    lifttoner186x204.gif
  5. Set the toner cartridge on paper to avoid any toner spilling.
    settoner364x186.gif
    Reseat the imaging unit:
  6. Lift the imaging unit straight up out of the printer.

  7. Line up the guide pins with the printer's frame and lower the imaging unit back into the printer.
    lineuppins210x267.gif
    Reinstall the toner cartridge:
  8. Install the toner cartridge by guiding the front onto the new imaging unit first then lowering the back.
    installtonercart284x241.gif
  9. Move the orange lever on the toner cartridge to the left so it locks.
    moveleverleft202x221.gif
  10. Clean the LEDs with the supplied wipe.

  11. Close the top cover.
