SOURCE: Protron HDTV Cable hook up

D4 is a Japanese HD standard, which is why it's almost impossible to find any cables with a D4 connector on it in the US.

I have the same Protron TV you're talking about, but it's been rebranded as Ultra. Did you not receive a D4 cable when you bought the TV?

If not here is where you can get the cable you need: http://www.igsshop.com/product_info.php?products_id=162

or here

https://www.digitalconnection.com/store/Product_List.asp?CID=3&CAT=D4%20SCART/COMPONENT

This should allow you to get HD signal from your cable box (granted you have an HD cable box) to your TV.

SOURCE: Need help hooking up TV, BluRay, Home Theatre & cable box

I found that since the Panasonic TH50PZ80U TV has only 2 HDMI ports on the back of the TV, the best solution for me was to use component (red, blue, green) cables to connect the Home Theatre to the TV. I suppose I/you could connect the home theatre to the HDMI port on the front panel, but I don't want cables hanging out the front of the TV (personal preference). Unfortunately, I am no longer able to use the VIERA Link functionality available by connecting all Panasonic components to each other using HDMI cables, but I feel it's a small price to pay for the incredible picture quality acheived by using the HDMI cable to connect the HD Cable Box to the TV. I may yet be able to control everything using the HD Cable Box remote, but I haven't gotten that far yet but I've got Comcast coming on Saturday and hopefully they can let me know if this is possible: let me know if you have a solution.

So here are the components and the cable types used to connect:

  1. HD Cable Box to TV: HDMI cable & Optical Audio cable
  2. Home Theatre to TV: Red, Blue & Green component cables
  3. BluRay Player to TV: HDMI cable
I hope this helps someone else.

SOURCE: sony str-dg820. having a problem getting video on tv

Hook up Composite / Component Monitor Out wire from receiver to TV video input because receiver will not change analog input into HDMI
You need to connect receiver and TV through analog video terminals as above.
Actually you are expecting that receiver will convert DVD player and Xbox analog video input into digital HDMI signal for TV and This is incorrect.

SOURCE: Low volume on LG HDTV

I encountered the same thing using the HDMI interface on my new TWC cable box (Motorola DCX-3200). After a little bit of research, I finally fixed it by changing the digital audio mode in the cable box using this procedure:

1. Be sure the TV is on and connected to the cable box.
2. Using the cable box remote turn power OFF.
3. Immediately press the MENU key on the remote. The USER SETTINGS menu should appear on the TV screen.
4. Select the ADDITIONAL HDMI SETTINGS >>> menu item.
5. The ADDITIONAL HDMI SETTINGS menu will appear.
6. Scroll to the AUDIO OUTPUT item and select this.
7. Change the setting from AUTO to L-PCM.
8. Return to the main page
9. Using the remote, cycle power OFF.
10. When the cable box is turned on again, you should be good to go.

I realize these instructions are specific to the DCX-3200, but there may be a similar setup option available in your cable box as well.

The problem here is that the cable box is by default configured to use Dolby Digital audio, which requires an additional 10dB of headroom to deal with the boosted LFE channel. If the cable operator hasn't taken pains to set the system up correctly (and most haven't, apparently), the digital audio level sent on the HDMI interface will be approximately 11dB down from normal analog line levels on the HDTV channels. Changing to straight linear PCM sets the TV receiver audio level on the HDTV channels to match the levels on the non-HD channels.

The only problem with this fix is that if you intend to feed a Home Theater receiver that uses Dolby Digital processing with the cable box output you will lose the Dolby encoding feature and be forced into straight 2-channel stereo. For a simple installation like mine where I'm just feeding the TV, this fix works fine. If you have a more complex setup that takes advantage of Dolby Digital features (when it's available in program material), you may have to live with the problem.

For a technical reference on why this happens, see http://www.megahz.com/specimages/Dolby/LM100%20Cable%20App%20Note%2011-05.pdf

Hope this is useful.

SOURCE: Television is not recognizing HDMI inputs

there is a possibility that there might have been a power surge sent over hdmi into the hdmi board on the tv. if on your model the hdmi board is seperate from the sine board then youll have a cheap replacement if not its gonna cost you roughly 300-400 is my guess.

How do I connect my acre laptop up to my hisense tv using a HDMI cable

For most laptops with present day systems and software, it should be a connect-and-go process. Just hook the cable into the laptop's output and the TV's input. Make sure the TV is set to the input channel to receive HDMI. If the sound still comes through the laptop speakers, you'll need to go into the laptop's sound settings and configure it manually to put the audio through the HDMI cable.

If your Acer laptop has an older system like Windows XP, you'll need to use hotkeys or manual display configuration from the laptop to set its output to HDMI. Some laptops don't automatically recognize when they've been hooked up to a TV and will need to be told.

How do I fix hisense TV on standby

Televisions go into standby mode when there is not an input source. First try cycling through the inputs i.e. HDMI 1/HDMI2/CABLE/VGA/RCA etc. next try changing the cable you are using. It may be bad. Outside of that, either the input port has gone bad on the board or the source is not sending a signal, either way this would be something handled by a professional repair technician

How do I connect my laptop to my led tv?

Is there a HMDI output on your Laptop or a VGA output. Some TV's have a DSUB input source that allows VGA depends on your laptop it could be HDMI if so TV should have an extraz HDMI input on the back and you change the source input on the TV to the HDMI 2 or HDMI 3 source depending on where you plugged in the P.C. . If HDMI you need to buy a HDMI cable.

Www roku com link

This sounds like a basic setup, so correct me if I made any wrong assumptions.

You have 2 "output" devices: a Roku and a cable box. Both have HDMI outputs.

You have 1 "input" device (your TV) that has 2 HDMI inputs available.

So, you need one HDMI cable to connect your cable box to your TV. Remember what HDMI port it's connected to - the back of your TV probably says "HDMI 1" and "HDMI 2" or similar. That's the "input name" of your TV.

Connect your Roku to your TV with another HDMI cable.

Now turn on your TV and use the remote to change between the inputs. Most remotes have a button that says INPUT or SOURCE (or sometimes a dumb little icon with no writing). If you press that it should change inputs. Usually, each time you push the button will cycle to the next input, so sometimes you have to hit it a bunch of times until the on screen menu shows the input you want. Most TVs will automatically switch to the selected input after a few seconds, so you don't have to push any buttons on the remote to tell the TV to change inputs.

If "at the same time", you meant actually watching both Roku movies and your cable at the same time, you are talking about a TV feature usually called "picture in picture". That should be possible, but will depend very much on your TV. I'd suggest checking your TV manual, or calling the company's 1-800 number and asking them to talk you through it.

Can not hook up to my Toshiba TV what cord do i need in order to make it work

Since this model of All-In-One Computer already has a built-in Digital/Analogue Television Function, as part of its standard specification, I will assume that your reason for wanting to interconnect these two devices is that you want to export computer, internet or other IT-based multimedia images to the TV for an enhanced viewing experience due to the TV's larger screen size.

The All-in-one computer has a High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) Port.

If the TV also has an HDMI port, what would be required is the best quality HDMI Cable that the User can afford.

All electrical/electronic interconnections between cables and ports suffer some degree of degradation or dissipation of the signal traveling along the cable. The most efficient metal for electronic connections is gold due to its comparatively high level of electrical conductivity compared to that of other metals used for electronic interconnections.

The best cable choice would therefore be a gold-plated HDMI Cable (see below).

If the TV has no HDMI port, an HDMI to Video Graphics Array VGA Cable Adapter or ([Victor] Radio Corporation of America - the inventors) RCA/PhonoVideo Cable Adapter between the HDMI Cable leading from the computer and the corresponding VGA or RCA/PhonoVideo port on the TV should resolve the connectivity mismatch (see images below).

Once connected, the TV Remote Control should be used to change the Signal Source Input from its automatic standard (Default) setting to PC Input:

Menu -> Source -> PC -> OK.

When i go to hook up a hdmi cable to my philips flat screen it wont recognize that i have a hdmi plugged into it. so what could that be the tv? the hdmi works with my other tv though

Hi,
This model has 4 HDMI inputs, do you get same problem in each HDMI input?
Did you checked HDMI input with any other video source like dvd player or PS3 etc instead of cable box?
Below are few helpful tips to connect HDMI input..
1. Ensure that your HDMI cable is certified.
2. Press SOURCE on the remote control to switch to another source and then switch back to the HDMI source.
3. Reset the accessory device and the TV.
• Turn on the TV
• Select the HDMI channel
• Turn on the accessory device
4. While the TV and the accessory device are powered on, unplug either end of the HDMI cable and then reinsert the cable.
Try above options and if tv still does not show picture of any video source through HDMI then it seems problem of HDMI processor located on main board, visual check is needed by qualified tech or call Philips if tv is under warranty.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

How can I view my pc on tv using an hdmi cable and a comcast digital cable box? My tv does not have an hdmi input.

The hdmi port on the Comcast box is an output only and cannot be used as an input from the general public. If your tv has a DVI output, there are DVI to HDMI adapters that can make the hook up....other than that, there is the super video cable but you will still have to run audio through a seperate line.
