My Memorex DVD Recorder (MVDR 2102) won't open

I used this player three times before I couldn't get the disc tray to open for me to pop in another blank disc and record a tv show i wanted to have on DVD.

I can't seem to do anything to get it to open. I tried turning on/off unplugging, etc.

Anyone have an idea what I can do to fix this problem?

THanx.

My memorex DVD/VCR wont open! I am trying to setup a disc and vcr player with a JVC tv, which has DIRECT cable. I turn off the cable and I get a BLUE screen. I am trying to Display the setup menu for the dvd/vcr player, but I can't find the right TV channel to display the SetUp menu.

TV is set for VIDEO 2, for the Front jacks and is wired correctly. Thanks!!

LG RH1757 (80 GB) DVD Recorder / HDD Recorder Drawer keeps opening Drawer keeps opening and closing and won't read discs! Rassie from Cape Town South Africa

Could be a timing issue with the tray mechanism - possible that somebody has given the tray "a shove" to make it close instead of using the open/close button and has put the timing out.or a worn tray loading belt

DVD disc tray keeps popping out

I had mine for 2 years and within the first 12 months the tray would not always pop out when I wanted it to. Then finally the machine would not recognise the disc type. Its in getting fixed but although the dvd drive and associated pcb have been replaced the guy says it still can't recognise the dvd disc type. Still trying to work it out.

I cannot open the DVD drawer on my Philips DVDR3480 DVD RECORDER – it just won’t open? The screen display just keeps saying ‘Error’. Any help is appreciated.

I have two of these dvd recorders and both have the exact same problem where the drive won't open. It opens fine when there is a disc in the tray. So I just unscrewed the cover, press the white part which would be over the center of the disc as it's trying to open, it should then open. Then just make sure there is always disc left in the tray.

My Memorex DVD Recorder (MVDR 2102) won't open

Most likely one or more capacitors on the main board went bad. I just fixed one last night with the exact symptom.

DVD player not reading discs. Display says "loading", then "no disc"

Hi I wish I had better news, but the problem you describe is the same problem that 90% or more of the DVD and for that matter CD players we service come in with. I would say that in about 60% of cases, the problem is dust or other contamination on the laser lense. If you have just done some drywall or other such work in your home, then that is likely the problem. Also, pet hair or other debris can be on the disc when loaded (especially if you have kids), and if it falls off and lands on the lense, that too can cause problems. The other most common things are a bad spin motor, (if you can, put your ear to the unit while it says "LOADING" and you should hear the disc spinning.) If the disc does spin up, and it is not dust, then it is likely a bad laser, and usually, the cost of replacing the laser makes repair not economical. You could try buying a laser cleaning disc, but I find they don't work well, and you should not take the DVD player apart yourself if you are not a tech, as the laser can damage your eyes. My advise would be to call around to local repair shops to find one that has a the lowest bench fee to diagnose the unit, and have it checked. Since it is so difficult to make a living repairing consumer electronics these days, because of the low replacement cost, you may even find a shop that will check the unit free of charge! Good Luck!
