I have an Astra 3400 scanner that hasn't beeen used for a while, and my home/office computer wasupgraded to Mac OS 10.4 (mac mini). I haven't found the Astra driver CD for be able to use the scanner. I went online and no downloads were available from Umax. Other found downloads were Windows OS only.
I'm needing to scan photos for a memorial service that's upcoming on Mar. 28th. Very grateful to anyone directing me to the Mac drivers, or other solution.

the link above will take you to the drivers you require, it says windows me but also in the comments it says for XP as well.

The makers of Umax scanners should write a download software to be available at sites like www.fixya.com. Not just for Windows 98, Me, and Xp but also for Vista. I have recently upgraded to Windows Vista. Now I can't use my scanner.

Certain software IS NOT available for download. In this case, a CD-ROM may be purchased.
And that 4100 is one of them, go to this site, contact support and they will send you a CD whit the drivers

My cd for Umax Astra 4800/4850 does want to work anymore

Click on one of the links below to download the software.

Run the software after downloading, it is the same software contained on your CD.

My Umax 3400 astra driver is not working in Windows Xp.

dowload vistascan vs375u (11,674KB) and open it you will receive 6 disks+1 disk german and 1 disk english. open the disk 1 and double click VSSETUP you will see a lot of DOS commands and at the end you will have VISTASCAN in the Programs Files ( Start--All Programs--VistaScan--enter) .
If Scanner test works O.K.
if not
- go to MyComputer right click,
- click hardware,
-click device manager,
-right click the UMAX Astra
-click update driver
-click "install from a specific location" Next "Don't search I will chose the driver to install"-- Next -- choose USB scanner (Not UMAX Astra 3400) --Next--
- you will receive a warning " continue anyway" finish
- Reboot.
open VISTASCAN Test it will pass now

Solution is VistaScan X CD only for Windows XP, when you use it withaout Internet-Connection (local)
