hi there,
could be that the ice maker arm is getting stuck or may have some frost on it. can you supply the complete model # please?
SOURCE: can't make ice cubes only crushed ice
Hi: There is a flap right where the ice dispenses. When you remove the bin you will see it when inverted. This flap has to open for the ice to be cubed. You might rember a slap as it swung open when it worked. There is a bar that runs from the flap to the back of the dispenser. Work it manually to see if it's jammed or broken. If not look at the back of the freezer and remove the metal panel if neccessary, to find the jam or defective part. I hope this helps, Jeff

I have a GE TFX25ppbaaa refrigerator. The ice maker corkscrew motor would run and provide crushed ice only. The corkscrew motor would not run when the switch was moved to the cubed ice ( half moon) setting.
I replaced the large Light/ water/ crushed ice/cubed ice switch , ( product service number GEH WR55X129 ) ( part number GE 162D6372 PO17 )and it fixed the problem. Cost was about $43.00.

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid
1. Take out the ice bin to access the switch in the
freezer.
2. Underneath the ice bin is a metal rod.
3. In the back of the freezer
there is a square hole from where the rod came. Put your finger in this
hole.
4. You should feel a plastic lever. If it's up, push it down. If it's down,
push it up.
5. Put the ice bin back and try for ice again. You should receive crushed and
cubed ice at this time.
6. If you push the lever up or down and it doesn't stay in place you should
contact an authorized service technician for repair.
