Intel DG45ID motherboard bricked

I have the Intel DG45ID Media board, and since setting the memory to manual (800Mhz) in the BIOS the system will not boot. It powers up, the fans run, the HDD's spin, but no display appears and no error beeps sound. I get the 3 long beeps when I attempt to boot without the memory cards installed, and have tried clearing the CMOS. I have attempted to upgrade the BIOS using the latest Intel BIOS update, via a USB flash drive and ISO disc, both without reward. I have studied the Intel site blogs and tried everything that was suggested. I'm going mad, and beginning to lose all hope here, please help! Dave

Here you maybe should not set the manual setting to 800 mghz.

Use the default setting as you can save and reboot it.

There may be a problem with the way the bios sees the memory. Also examine your manual carefully for indications of how the memory needs to be installed.
Some boards require two or more modules to be installed, and will not run correctly with out the modules required installed. Some of these boards will not allow mixing anything except exact sets. That is to say each module must be the same. Some boards are far more tolerant of kinds and makes of modules.
With out the memory, you will not have anything to run on.
So, I would suggest to let the bios set what it sees.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Intel+DG45ID+pdf&btnG=Search&aq=f&oq=&aqi=
"Four 240-pin Double Data Rate 2 (DDR2) SDRAM Dual Inline Memory Module
(DIMM) connectors with gold-plated contacts
• Support for:
. Non-ECC, 1.8 V, DDR2 800/667 MHz memory
. Serial Presence Detect (SPD) memory only
. Unbuffered, non-registered single- or double-sided DIMMs (except double-sided
DIMMs with x16 organization)
. Memory configurations listed below:
• Up to 2.0 GB utilizing 256 Mb technology
• Up to 4.0 GB utilizing 512 Mb or 1 Gb technology
• Up to 8.0 GB utilizing 1 Gb technology
• A minimum of 512 MB of total memory is required"
"NOTE
To be fully compliant with all applicable Intel ® SDRAM memory specifications, the
board should be populated with DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD)
data structure. If your memory modules do not support SPD, you will see a
notification to this effect on the screen at power up. The BIOS will attempt to
configure the memory controller for normal operation."
So, the memory is dependent on the configuration. It appears that this board requires 4 modules at once to be installed, depends on the amount of memory per module as well.

Be careful about flashing the bios. By doing that you can ruin the bios and make the computer completely unusable until you get and install a new bios module, if you do not pick the exact correct flash version.

    In addition:
Make sure you know what kind of memory you are installing in this board.
Also in the manual it is very well explained that the processor has to be of a certain type, other wise this board will not work correctly.
Also the power supply has to be the type with the extra power 4-pin plug and has to be plugged in or else the board can be damaged.

    One more addition:
"since setting the memory to manual (800Mhz) in the BIOS the system will not boot."

I am not sure that the memory is 800mhz if the bios will not take it.
And.... it should not be necessary to set the speed of the memory in the bios. This should be automatically set by default when the machine is turned on, the bios should see the speed by default correctly.
Again, this board appears to require 4 memory modules to be installed to be able to run correctly. And it appears that all 4 need to be the same.

Hello Dave,

Have you tried setting your CMOS jumper to clear, while the jumper is in this position, power on the pc. This should boot to BIOS so that you can reset your settings.

Good Luck

Will 1gb ddr2 800mhz ram support intel102ggc2

The board has two 240-pin DIMM sockets and supports the following memory features:
  • 1.8 V (only) DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
  • Unbuffered, single-sided or double-sided DIMMs with the following restriction: Double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization are not supported.

Note
To be fully compliant with all applicable DDR SDRAM memory specifications, the board should be populated with DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This allows the BIOS to read the SPD data and program the chipset to accurately configure memory settings for optimum performance. If non-SPD memory is installed, the BIOS will attempt to correctly configure the memory settings, but performance and reliability may be impacted or the DIMMs may not function under the determined frequency.

How do i change the memory bus speed on my dell optiplex 170l? The CPU is an Intel Celeron 2.4GHz. The mother board processor speed is 400MHz and the Bios indicates a memory bus speed of 266MHz and does...

You checked in the right place as far as looking in the BIOS, however, memory and CPU sockets do not necessarily have the same buss speed. My FSB runs at 1066Mhz and my RAM at 800Mhz, it all depends on what type of RAM you buy as to the bus speed. You can up the bus speed on your RAM if you wish to reduce bottle-necking, but I've only done that a few times. In order to adjust anything, you must set the settings to manual. Be careful when you change this stuff around though, voltages must also be adjusted accordingly.

Intel Desktop Board D945GNTLKR did not boot

Try choosing the 'Exit Without Saving' option in the BIOS menu. If this kicks you to the boot media search, then 99.99% the BIOS is corupt. If not, try to replace the CPU cooler (don't forget to apply the thermal grease).

¿Could it work with 2 Cards RAM of 1G/800? ¿Could PC work with this mother board and 2 Cards RAM of 1G/800?

That's a pretty big jumb from 667 to 800MHz. (Motherboard does not support 800MHz).
Manual says:
This motherboard accommodates two memory modules. It can support two 240-pin
DDR2 667/533/400. The total memory capacity is 2 GB.

Yet, ECS web site says it supports up to 4 GB.

BIOS for 945GCT-M/1333 (PCB:3.x) version 08/07/18 does not include information pertaining to increased memory speed up to 800MHz. (Bios link).

Graphics card

Hi Harikris, no you can not install just any graphics card. You're Intel D845GLLY board uses an onboard graphics card. (It's an AGP graphics card).
If it's you're intention to install a new graphics card you must use a PCI graphics card. (Understand that the AGP onboard graphics is faster than a PCI graphics card). However, the PCI cards do use their own memory. (Which fee’s you're system memory to run windows.
The Intel D845GLLY has 4 PCI (White) slots, onboard. You can add a video card into the system. You're onboard video card does use you're system memory to function. If you're PC has 512MB of system memory & you're video card is set to use 128MB of memory. Than you're system is left to run with 128MB. One would think you're system is running a little slow.
The Intel D845GLLY motherboard can use up to 256MB of system memory. You can set the amount of system memory in the bios as shown on page 49, table 18. In you're manual. If you do not have you're manual you can download it from here: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845glly/sb/cs-008853.htm
May I suggest you increase you're system memory to 1GB. Than increase you're graphics memory to 256MB. You're system will run faster & so will you're graphics card. These older Intel motherboards require memory current for you're board. Click this link: http://www.memory-up.com/Memory/IntelD12696.html
If you still feel that you want to use the slower PCI graphics card you can choose from any listed on this link: http://www.newegg.com/product/ProductList.aspx?N=2000380048+1069609642&Submit=ENE&SubCategory=48&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA
You will also need to change a setting in you're bios to boot to the PCI card instead of the AGP onboard card. Page 49.

Good Luck!
