Yes.Fuel mix is needed.Mixture is 50/1 fuel /oil. Eg.50 litres of fuel/1 litre of oil.Oil bottles you buy have measurements on the side of them.Hope this helps

I use 1 quart per gallon of gas and put an ounce of seafoam in the mix to keep fuel and carb clean and get rid of condensation.

Fuel 2 oil mix on Johnson outboard 1964 -18h

50 to 1 all ways go for the higher as the oil is lube and a hot outboard needs it if you are wrong it will still run hard to push a boat home but in this case 50 to 1 is the one be safe on the water

Even thought there are many expert tech's with sometimes more years of experience on this site than some you may find working in a repair shop, and of course many that simply give you their guess as the correct answer. I would recommend calling a Johnson Outboard Dealer or an outboard repair shop.
