Casio exilim 8.1 card is locked

I downloaded pictures from my memory card to my laptop and when I put it back into camera 'the card is locked' came up on screen. I can look at photos I've taken but cannot take new photos. I checked the locking device on side of memory card and placed a new 2GB card in camera. 'The card is locked' keeps coming on the screen. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

As you've already tried the card's slide switch, see this link for additional things that you can try.

Hi!

Can you check if there is a small push button on the memory card itself? It could that it is currently on write-protect mode.

How do i unlock the card on my exilim.casio camera

Remove the card and see if the pictures remain on the camera. If they do, then they are stored in camera memory. Make sure the memory lock on the card is in the proper position. Put the card back into your computer and delete the pictures. Then format the card, and try the card again. If the card is still locked, try a different memory card that has been formatted.

I cannot delete picture or take pictures on my Casio Exilim camera. I get "The card is locked" message.

Take the memory card out of your camera and look at it. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.
If that doesn't work, try another card.

I can see the pictures form my 1 gb sd card in my Casio Exilim. However, I cant see or transfer the pictures when I connect the camera to my laptop via the usb cable? the camera comes up as removalble...

It's good the laptop recognizes the camera as an external drive. A couple of things make sure you are looking at the SD card and not the cameras internal memory. Most point and shooters can't download directly from the internal memory to the computer they need to be transferred to the SD card first. Also if they are on the SD card for sure look to see if you have locked any of them cause that will prevent a download as well. It almost appears as if the SD card became locked which all it will alow you to do is look at teh picture and nothing else. I'm including a diagram of the little lock on the side of the SD card make sure that's in the open position.

The position in thee little circle is where it need to be for unlock

Card locked but its not

Memory cards are funny things that can sometimes currupt for various reasons i suggest you just buy a new memory card.
Try to retrieve the pictures you can get on your computer before you dispose of the old one.

Good luck

Camera says card locked

1) Try to unlock it by the lock/unlock switch on the side of the memory card.

2) If step 1 does not work replace memory card with new card.

3) If step 1 & 2 do not work the problem is internal (inside the camera). Go to www.ecasiorepair.com to get a quote for repair. Cost will be anywhere from $39-115 to fix it (if not under warranty). You could even ask if this is a defective camera (lemon) they might even fix it for free? I've seen this issue with the Casio a lot.

Casio Exilim won't turn on when memory card is inserted

It sound like a bent pin issue. Look at the bottom of the memory card slot, you probably bent one or more of the contactor pins. Use a small screwdriver and carefully try to straight the bent pin then carefully put the memory card back in. From now on, use a USB cable for downloading your pictures and don't pull the card out anymore as the pin is probably weaker than before and can break. Good luck !
