I had the same problem with my Coby MP822-4G when plugged into the USB2 hub on my monitor. Coby tech support suggested using one of the USB2 ports at the rear of my computer. I had to explore the USB2 ports to find one that allowed the computer to recognize the drive. I suggest plugging your cable directly into the computer and not use a USB hub at first.

I run Windows XP. It doesn't show as a 'removable disk' or as anything else anywhere on my computer.
As far as my usb hub goes, I have no idea how to tell if it's the issue or not. Everything works fine in it.
